aTm, Baylor, and TCU looks like a darned good OOC schedule for us. Maybe at least we can win the old Church School championship we used to be able to win in the old SWC days.

I don't think that is the idea. I think they would open up the south end zone for seating which would result in about 40K of capacity.

If or when they complete the existing horeshoe with seating, capacity will be at 45K.

The last thing that SMU needs to be thinking about is building out the open end of Ford. The stadium already looks very empty when there is the usual crowd of 3-4K with a capacity of $32K. Build a winning football program and then worry about where to put all of the people.

Didn't say what will be, only said what will be for the A$M games. Did say what could be......nothing wrong with that...simply the facts.

I agree with Pony Snob - for the forseeable future we should have a biad toward easier teams in the OOC - we need to build our own fan base.

I agree with SMUstang. Maybe we could market a Church School championship like Hayden Fry tried to promote.

Also, if we're playing most of our old SWC opponents most years, we should be able to recruit like we did back then. It was obvious that our recruiting level dropped when the SWC ended, and dropped even more when the mountain goats left the WAC. We'll eventually be beating these guys. Remember the tie with A$M in 94, and the last second loss to them on a lucky 30 yard pass in 95.

The 15,000 attendance problem would most likely be solved. Playing old rivals would increase attendance by our fans, as well as bring in 1000s of opponent's fans.

I know no self respecting Pony fan wouldn't know this right away, but what year & what coach was it when SMU tied aTm in coll. station? I know it was post-dp, and I think aTm was top 10 or 15 at the time.

If we played TCU, Baylor, A&M, Rice and UH in the same year, we would have played much of the old SWC schedule. That ought to energize our fans who still long for the days when we played the Aggies, Bears, Horns and Hogs.

disregard my last question. I guess I hadn't "refreshed" the page to see the already-posted answer.
