I Still Think We Win C-USA West

Postby StallionsModelT » Fri Oct 29, 2010 10:55 am

We get it turned around this week at Tulane and then win out until we lose to ECU. All in all we still have left a few games on the table this year (Tech and Navy) that we could have easily won. If we can win 7 or 8 games again that will be yet another positive sign that this thing is headed in the right direction. I'm sure the team is very disappointed by the effort against Houston but I truly believe that June has such a good read on this team that we can put it behind us and rally to the finish. Maybe I'm being too optomistic but I really believe we're still going to be in the drivers seat in CUSA-West when all is said and done.

Hope you are right but unless offensive dramatically improves, we will not win on the road at UTEP. Didn't think we would win there before season started, and nothing yet to show we can go out there and win. They have good RBs and experienced QB playing in front of 40,000 plus at home.

UTEP game is trouble for us.

I want some of that SMU Kool-Aid you are drinking. I thought we would play in the conference championship game until the team lost to an avereage Houston team at home. It is hard to win conference when you lose conference home games. I hope you are right though.

he may be right...only bad game we have played was UH. I was at Navy game and we had them on the ropes, but didn't finish out the half and lost the 2nd half badly. Really, only 6 quarters of bad ball, but they have all been in a row.

Start up the new W streak in N.O. fellas

We laid an egg against Houstont here is no way around that. But that is the only game this year where we didn't come to play. Tulane, UTEP, and Marshall are all very beatable if we simply show up and play our game. I have complete confidence that June can get our guys to do that.

Of course we can. Nobody can say that we will, of course, but it's just not accurate for anyone to say we can't. There is no dominant team, and there's no reason UH can't lose a game or two (they lost to Rice, after all).

Wish I was wrong, but again we will not win at UTEP. They are experienced, senior laden team with a talented QB with many starts and a very good running back (Buckram) we have not really stopped when we played him in the past. Plus it will be senior day and their last home game at UTEP with a full stadium.

If KP and others were seniors we may have better shot, but UTEP's experience will get our guys on the road. You have to be objective about where are team is right now. In 2 or 3 years with more depth and experience maybe, but this year especially how I have witnessed this team struggle, I think beating UTEP will be a tall task.

The same UTEP who has yet to be beat anyone this year, and lost at home to Tulane?

Tulane is better than usual, which we will see in a few days. Toledo finally has his injured RB back and will run some of the power running game he has done in the past (think Forte before he went to the NFL). We should still beat them, but they are better than usual.

If we were playing better offensively I would like our chances better on the road at UTEP, or if UTEP wasn't so experienced. But having sat in the stands this year and watched all other games on TV or via computer I have not been impressed yet with our offense. Offensively we have to have more sustained drives and score more points as it obviously helps our defense. If we don't score more than 21 or 28 at UTEP, I think we will lose.

UTEP is not Alabama, but unless we play much better offensively I don't think we can win at their place with all the seniors they have. Trying to be objective -- our team is getting better but still young and not there yet. Again, hope I am wrong and hope we win out but don't think this year's group has put it together yet to allow that to happen.

We will drill Tulane and UTEP.

The only bad game we played was Houston who was just a bad matchup on a bad day. No need to overreact.
