SMU Women's Basketball Announces Televised Games For 2010-11

Oct. 22, 2010

IRVING, Texas (SMU) --- The SMU women’s basketball will be featured in three television broadcasts for the upcoming 2010-11 season, Conference USA announced this week. The Mustangs will be highlighted in two games that will air live nation-wide on ESPN2 and CBS College Sports.

The first televised matchup for head coach Rhonda Rompola and the Mustangs will be at Tulane at 7 p.m. (CT) Jan. 6 on CBS College Sports.

On Jan. 16, ESPN2 will broadcast SMU’s home matchup against UCF. The game time, originally slated for 2 p.m., will be moved up an hour to a 1 p.m. CT start.

The SMU at Rice game on Feb. 6 scheduled for 2 p.m. will be televised on tape delay via CBS College Sports and CSS at 4 p.m. CT.

The Mustangs tip-off their season with a home game on Nov. 12 against Utah. SMU will play 14 home games at Moody Coliseum this season, where the Mustangs have won 12 or more games each year since the 2004-05 season.

They lost a lot from last year, but they'll still be decent, with a chance to be pretty good.

Jillian Samuels hit more 3s than anyone in school history, and Brittany Gilliam could score and defend (when she wanted to). Alice Severin was a great defender and solid rebounder. They're gone.

Delisha Wills is back from knee surgery, and if she's in shape, she's a great player in the low post and out on the break. Christine Elliott should destroy people in the low post this year, and Haley Day is a really versatile, athletic player who can contribute at shooting guard, small forward or against certain teams, even power forward.

Young players like Sarah Shelton and Alisha Filmore are going to have to step into bigger roles. Raquel Christian takes over at point guard, and is extremely quick.

I don't know anything about the incoming freshmen. Sorry.
