Offensive line

The big fellas played great today. Interior line did a great job on that huge nosetackle, and the tackles kept the ends away from Page, for the most part. Even Sterling Harris played OK. Nice work

Not so fast my friends!
Before you go handing out accolades to all the offensive linemen, let's get past UNC. Keep Julius Peppers from running wild, lead the Mustangs to another victory, and THEN we'll sign your praises all through the offseason.

No Sir, they did indeed play an excellent game today, don't take that from them. I hope they contain Peppers and beat UNC, but they played great against Rice.

Rice's D-line looked big and athletic. And after our first couple of drives, I was thinking it was going to be another long afternoon.

So hats off to the BIG GUYS for coming together and getting down to business. Nice work.

Also, as much as I hate to do it, I must also give kudos to Larry Kueck. Silly calls were kept to a minimum (only the 3rd or 4th reverse where we lost 8 yards can be criticized in retrospect). We took our shots down field and came up big. And those ridiculous swing passes where the receiver gets nailed at the line of scrimmage a millisecond after catching the ball... well we still ran them, but we setup the receiver 5-6 yards down field. So rather than 2nd and 10, we had 2nd and 4 or 5. Also, the offense ran a beautifully executed middle screen, which seemed to help slow down the Rice rush thereafter.

So, lots of stuff to get excited about on the offensive side of the ball.
