Re: Rivals ranks SMU recruiting class No. 47Even if we assume a significant amount of grade inflation since 2007, the most important thing to keep in mind is how we are rated nationally as the grade inflation applies to all teams, not just SMU. So focusing on our national rank, our recruiting class is much better than in years past. Well done staff, keep up the good work.
PONY UP!

Re: Rivals ranks SMU recruiting class No. 47Interesting to note we are the 7th ranked Private School in National RIVALs recruiting rankings......next year maybe we break into the Top 5 in the National Rankings for Private schools...to move ahead of Baylor and Boston College.
This IS impressive! Stanford- #9 Notre Dame- # 13 USC- # 14 TCU - #32 Baylor -#41 Boston College -#42 SMU -#47 SMU IS the second (2nd) highest ranked Private School, not in a BCS conference though....(TCU is first)
Re: Rivals ranks SMU recruiting class No. 47National Grade Inflation Analysis:
High School Recruits rated 3 star or above: 2007-1141 2008-1109 2009-1382 2010'-1764 2011-1537 (Incomplete) about a 55%+ grade inflation on a national level But in Texas there has been an incredible 91% grade inflation between 2007 and 2010 A typical Texas High School Class has about 365 Division 1A recruits that sign letters of intent so roughly 78% of the class are 3 star or above. (However there is a small group of 3 star and above who never sign with a Division 1A school because they might be such an academic risk nobody will even sign them or they suffer an injury-not too many because somebody will generally take a chance on a 3 star or above but keep in mind that the real number would likely be a little smaller) "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
