My concern is the bad press a 6-6 team would generate if we beat Marshall, then lose to ECU, and back into this thing with 4-3 conference record (they would say we didnt' deserve it, etc.) and then worse we end up 6-7. Calallen Stang posts then we don't go to a bowl. I think you have to look long term and say a home bowl game at 6-6 with a good crowd, that we win to to to 7-6, generates more positive for the program. Better than bad loss in championship game and final losing record in my opinion. Doesn't mean I am right.

NO! He is covering his [deleted]. He specifically says in his initial post that we should beat Marshall and then lose to ECU in order to save face, expenses, travel, etc. He is using your analogy as an excuse for a lame post. He wants us to lose to ECU. Period. If we beat Marshall and ECU ( a tall but not unachievable goal) we will have a 7-5 record and no chance of being kept out of a bowl if we were to lose the Championship. It was a lame post to begin with and a lame attempt to cover up. He can send his big donation check to Tulsa. We can survive without it.

What is it about San Antonio that makes Pony Fans lose faith?

Let's not send the check to Tulsa until we see how many 000s are on it.

You have no clue. For the record I hope we go 7-5 and go to the CUSA championship. All I am saying is if we somehow end up in the CUSA championship at 6-6 (which is a long shot that would require both Tulsa and Houston to lose at least one more and I think UTEP would have to lose as well), we had better win or we won't be bowling. Getting to the CUSA championship, losing, and not going bowling would be worse for this program than not getting to the CUSA championship and going bowling. Do you not get it?

And here I though the "June Jones, the game has passed you by" thread was stupid....
I may be inspired to create a video......

You should create one for Marshall. Lots of material to work with and we haven't had good luck when you haven't made videos

I have seen some truly garbage posts on this board over the years. The guy who said kids growing up in poverty DON'T see athletics as the best route to prosperity more often than kids from affluent areas. The guy who said we should split the Bush Library with University of Dallas because they have more land and it's fair. And now this.
Had the original post only argued that it would behoove us to lose to get to a bowl game, and that a bowl game will do more for us than losing to the championship and staying home, it would be debatable but at least an understandable argument. However, making the argument that Tulsa "deserves" it more is just amazing.
Sure, they might deserve it more. Who cares. They can kill themselves. What matters is what benefits SMU football most. Things like 'deserve' do not matter.
TCU has, and will continue to, sell us out at the drop of a hat to advance their program. We can whine, but look where they are and where we are.
Play to win or don't bother. Winning is what matters. Otherwise let's go back to the Bennett era of not trying and continue to watch suck and talk about how our coach is a "good Christian man".

I am probably way behind on the critisism here, but why in the hell would you hope for a loss? Just stay in SA this weekend. The fans that actually want this team to succeed will be in Ford. [deleted].

Agree with this too. 21-18 says they don't.

Lol I'm sure I've had one of those kick me signs at all of the away game airports. The thing is you support and just go so deep in depression with a loss that you just have to laugh at your self and move on to the 14 day Hawaii cruise.
