Let's all say a little prayer for those poor orange folks. How ever will they cope?

I have lived in Austin for 20 years. Nice city. Plenty of things to do. Pretty scenery. But the typical UT fan is a sight to behold.

1) Probably a community college drop-out.
2) Came upon tickets from his or her employer
3) Knows little or nothing about the sport or other college programs
4) Favorite NFL team: Tennessee
5) Believes the Big 12 has a rich tradition
6) Behind on rent
7) Wanted for unpaid traffic tickets
8) Fills up on free samples at Central Market for lunch

I am embarrassed by SMU's poor attendance, but at least most of our fans tend to have some tangible connection to higher education and are contributing members to society. I cannot say that for the typical UT fan.

a book i read earlier this year about SEC football referred to these people as Dirt Road Alumni.

Thanks for the recommendation Dutch. Will pick up the book.

I remember going to Norman back in the 80s to see SMU v OU. We had been nationally ranked almost continuously for several years and the game was considered marquee enough to be on national ABC tv. A group of OU fans next to us cheered vociferously for the Sooners. They were decked out in total OU regalia and seemed to be regulars at the games. One of the gentlemen, (I am being generous) saw my SMU windbreaker. He asked: "Where is SMU located? Isn't it a Catholic school?" I am not lying.

You could use almost the exact same list to describe most Cowboys fans. Well, except for #4 obviously.
