He was one of the kids that SMU Denied admission to like a week before school this year.

I think it's pretty important. I know the way it was handled and the timing of the situation was what most people were angry about. A big part of people's anger about the situation (mine included) was the claim that he was enrolling at UCLA per the Dallas Observer Article (http://www.dallasobserver.com/2010-07-15/news/at-smu-winning-on-the-field-is-being-sacked-by-an-unwillingness-to-accept-the-academically-less-gifted/2/). How could UCLA accept a guy that SMU won't allow in school? Obviously, UCLA wouldn't let him into school either. Now we find out he was never accepted and now has another committed to Oregon State.

Stallion has been right on the money on this whole situation. The pitchforks were out before all of the evidence was in. There were many claims that this would destroy recruiting at SMU, and that obviously hasn't happened.

No I'd say all the evidence is not in even yet. Just trying to keep up because I think its important. There has been conflicting reports- I don't know their accuracy. I BELIEVE he signed a grant in aid with UCLA for admission in January upon basically the same conditions as SMU-that he complete two classes at a local JC first. UCLA has done the same thing with at least 2 recruits in recent years both of whom never got admitted when it came time to attend UCLA. I'm not surprised that he never made it to UCLA. There are all kinds of reasons he could have decided to change to Oregon St. Could have just changed mind because he wants to be a Beaver or he could have some doubts about getting in at UCLA or have had difficulty in his JUCO classes. UCLA could have asked him to retake his SAT/ACT and results were not good enough. Further, just because he committed to Oregon St. doesn't mean he's admitted. We'll see.

I just celebrated the 8th anniversary of legally being committed to beaver. Not sure she is all that thrilled with being legally bound to me, but too late now.....
