Robinson Named Semifinalist For Biletnikoff Award
SMU Senior One Of 10 Honored

Nov. 15, 2010

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU senior Aldrick Robinson has been named one of the ten semifinalists for the 2010 Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the top wide receiver in college football, The Tallahassee Quarterback Club announced today.

Robinson leads Conference USA in yards per game at 99.4, catching a total of 50 passes for 994 yards. In C-USA games, he is averaging 122 yards receiving and is averaging 21.5 yards per catch. He ranks second in the league in receiving touchdowns with 10 and has scored at least one TD in each of SMU's last four games. Robinson has six 100-yard games in 2010, a figure that has tied the SMU single-season record.

The Waxahachie, Texas, product is currently third among active FBS players in yards per catch at 18.1. Robinson also ranks eighth among active FBS players with 26 career receiving touchdowns. On the SMU career charts, Robinson is second in yardage (3,007), fifth in receptions (166), second in receiving touchdowns (26) and 17th in scoring (156 points).

Robinson is one of only four players in SMU history with a 1,000-yard season to his name and has been involved in two of the three longest pass plays in school history - a 96-yard TD pass in the ECU victory in 2009, tying the mark for the longest pass play in SMU history, and a 94-yard TD reception at UCF in 2008 - and owns three of the top four single-game yardage totals in school lore - 210 at UCF and 186 vs. Houston, both in 2008, and 182 at Tulane in 2010. He also had 176 in SMU's 2009 Hawaii Bowl win over Nevada, which ranks sixth.

The award is named for Fred Biletnikoff, the Florida State University All-America receiver and Pro Football Hall of Famer. The award has been given out since 1994. Last year's winner was Golden Tate of Notre Dame.

The winner of the 17th Biletnikoff Award will be announced as part of ESPN's College Football Awards Show on Thursday, December 9. The award will be officially presented to the winner at the annual Biletnikoff Award dinner, hosted by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club, on Saturday, February 11, 2011.

Robinson and his Mustang teammates return to action this Saturday, Nov. 20, hosting Marshall at 2 p.m. SMU enters the game needing just one more win for bowl eligibility and again controlling its destiny in Conference USA's West Division. If the Mustangs win their final two games, they will win their division and will represent the West in the C-USA Championship game.

AR has put in the time to transform from a 1-dimensional speedster into a well-rounded receiver who can do it all. For that he deserves all the accolades and good things coming his way upon graduation.

Congrats Al! :D

Yeah, 10 catches per game would be nice but the Biletnikoff finalists are pretty much set; Blackmon, Broyles and Jeffrey.

Best I have seen this year are Aldrick, Blackmon and Fuller.

If Aldrick doesn't win it the award is a joke. He has been dominant this season.

Green is probably the #1 receiver in the draft and could be the top overall pick as well. That said he missed the first 4 games of the season because of problems with the NCAA and should not be included on the list! http://tinyurl.com/2fkfffb

Blackmon is the runaway winner at this point. The award is his to lose.

Blackmon has been a beast this year and will win. AR is the only receiver in the country with at least 50 receptions and a 20 yard average per reception. Pretty impressive.
