Assistant Coaches et al

Postby ponytalk » Mon Nov 26, 2001 9:31 pm

With a new coach coming in, does anyone think any of the assistants will stay?

Some are definitely deserving, but by keeping the big recruiters, that would increase our chances of keeping our commits.

Also, will Faucette stay?

When Mack Brown went to UT, he got rid of everyone, coaches, strength staff, and trainers.

I think Faucette has done some good.

Belin, Ringo, and Schumann are all great. There are a few others but what are the predictions here?

In my opinion I think it is the caliber of coach that will determine who stays. If it is a big name guy that is still in coaching, he will clean house, but if a guy has been out of coaching for a while I could see a few staying.

Who's Hyatt? What does he do that merits him staying on?

I agree that Faucette, Ringo and Belin need to be kept. So does Schumann, although that may be hard with his reputation (great defenses here with limited recruiting resources, background of having played for Bear Bryant.)

Ringo is a recruiting force who knows every HS coach on the planet. And he's done a good job with the receivers.

Oscar Giles absolutely needs to be kept. He and Belin are teachers in the truest sense of the word, and their players will run through fire for them. Giles also is said to be the man who got the Barnett kid from Carter to commit.

We need all of these -- Schumann, RIngo, Belin and Giles -- to stay.

Giles and Faucette are the most important guys to keep around.

Who ever was coaching the defense can stay, as for the offensive side, I think we need to change some faces. The defense was great. Our offense is what kept us back.
