OffTopic- Another SMU poker champ

Post by MustangSally »

I was watching some lame show on TV the other night called "Celebrity Poker Challenge" featuring tv and movie stars playing for charity. On the particular episode I saw, Lauren Graham beat Danny Masterson (oldest brother on Malcolm in the Middle) to win the whole game. Lauren Graham apparently went to SMU to get her masters from Meadows. She plays the mom on Gilmore Girls, and she's a hotty. Apparently with an SMU degree comes some poker skills.

All I know is when I was there, we used to play the football players for their "laundry" money. You had to be careful not to win too much because they were not the sort you wanted to get mad. Actually, it was a great way to spend a few hours and we still know each other after all these years. I might add though that one of the best players I remember was a golfer who is no longer with us. Payne Stewart had no nerves at all.

Saw Lauren last night in the championship round. She finished second. She was leading but Maura Tierney got some luck and Lauren made a couple of mistakes and that's all she wrote. The down side was that her charity was a part of UCLA? Anyway, congratulations to Lauren for a great showing. I wish poker was an NCAA sport, we might actually be ranked.
