They've been good for awhile now, and they're the only game in town. I wonder if our attendance problems will linger even when we become a C-USA heavyweight.

They may be the only game in town, but they are a distant 4th in media coverage to OU, OSU, and Arkansas. Sound familiar?

Sounds like our situation except cut in half because we have to look up at several college and pro teams.

From experience...it takes about 10 years of consistent winning and winning big (TCU win totals since 2005 are 11 , 11, 8, 11, 12, 11+) in order to really turn the corner on attendance. So be patient and keep winning. We didn't really start pulling in the local non-alums until the last 2-3 years.

It was a wierd game.

It pisses me off that I drive 4 hours to Tulsa for home games and none of the fails that live up there go to games. Same problem the Hilltop has. Weve got a sweet stadium, a bad [deleted] place to tailgate, and in and out policy at games and beer vendors next to every exit.

Its just wierd.

Our attendance isn't much better this year over last year but the excitement and buzz at the games are better. And the students are starting to get more involved in the games. Keep winning and attendance will improve.

I thought things would be much better at the Hilltop this year.

I only caught two games and the crowd was awful for both of them.

Wash State wasnt that bad but the Students all left at halftime. I guess It was just hot and none of them care. The Tulsa attendance was decent but TU brought a lot of people.

If SMU let people come in and out 2H attendance would be better. There are plenty of people on the BLVD while the game is still going on.

And, still, the football program loses potential ticket-buyers to other entertainment options like the latest "Harry Potter" flick, even though the kid is getting so old he could double for Sherman Potter on M*A*S*H.

What a stupid comment.

In the first five years of the eighties, SMU won more college football games than anyone else in the world. They were playing in Texas Stadium when at home and they never came close to filling (64000) the stadium unless they were playingTexas U, Texas A&M or Arkansas. When playing Baylor who was at the time a top fifteen team, they would be lucky and had to give away tickets to have 45000 people. No way there was more than around 35000 or so for Texas Tech, Houston or TCU and with Rice they seldom drew more than 30000, if that. Best guess at that time was that there were about 25000 hard core SMU fans.

If SMU some day gets where it can sell about 17000-20000 season tickets and get back that hard core 24-25000 fans, then with 5-7000 students and then a few visitors they can get close to a full stadium, which would be great. A big negative for SMU which keeps some people away is parking. With a near capacity crowd the parking is tough.

1. TU's stadium is not sweet

2. TU's tailgate is not bad [deleted]

Parking won't matter if people want to get to the game. They'll find a way. Would love to, one day, get on the DART train north of 75 and not be the only one with an SMU shirt & hat on until I get off at Mockingbird.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.
