UNIVERSITY PARK – An SMU athletic department official passed a football player coming up the tunnel Saturday after a 31-17 win over Marshall and let out a whoop.

"I get to order bowl stuff!"

Let the purchase orders commence.

Not so long ago, any call for postseason merchandise would have seemed unthinkable. Particularly after you've just gone 1-11.

Back-to-back.

"Obviously," senior linebacker Pete Fleps said of those less-than-halcyon days, "you check your commitment level."

Fortunately for SMU, Fleps wasn't going anywhere. Just like the football team. Or so it seemed then.
