Way to be on top of things SMU!!According to the ECU fan preview this is the 75th anniversary of our first National Championship. I haven't heard one word from SMU recognizing this huge Anniversary...just shameful.

"smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!I am sure one of the apologists on this board will say there are way too many other sporting events going on
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!We didn't want to detract from the blazing success of our bball program. After all, they have some 'hot' recruits coming in next year.

Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!I've almost never seen SMU recognize any of those national championships or promote them. I still don't understand why we don't have anything inside Ford mentioning them. It's total donkey [deleted].

Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!Good Post RE.
Don't know if there are any surviving members from that team. I guess we can celebrate them 25 years from now.
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!Certainly inadequate, but...in every week's game notes, there's this item:
THREE-TIME NATIONAL CHAMPIONS The 2010 season marks the 75th anniversary of SMU’s first National Championship (1935). That season was highlighted by an epic showdown between SMU and TCU, a clash of two undefeated titans that drew national attention. The stakes for the game could not have been higher, as the Southwest Conference title, a Rose Bowl bid, and a National Championship would go to the winner. SMU was 10-0, and TCU, with Sammy Baugh at the helm, was 11-0. It was No. 1 vs. No. 2. ... Goes on to talk about Rose Bowl payday paying off the Ownby mortgage and SMU winning national and SWC titles.
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!My question is how would you like for us to promote that national championship team?
You've done a fantastic job of blasting the school -- criticism it deserves -- but ease off the throttle a bit. Kate and other media outlets -- I would presume -- have had these notes if not for this game but throughout the year. Media notes run the same stuff (updated when necessary) week after week. Why haven't they been talking about it? I guess we should have done something at halftime of one of the games to recognize that team with a video board tribute. Disappointing, but that's my take.
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!Pretty easy to recognize it. Designate the entire season the 75th anniversary NC season. Put together a video tribute to play at each game. Make announcements at every game. Get members of the player's family to a particular game and honor them. Put up banners around the stadium celebrating the 75th anniversary. We aren't writing the book here, it's been done by programs in the past.
I haven't heard one peep all season about this. It's another example of the cluelessnes of the athletic department or even worse a lack of effort. #NewLobCity
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!Have you made your concerns known to the athletic department or are you burning your energy on this board?
To be fair, I don't recall anyone on this board ever talking about this before. I'll come clean. It wasn't on my radar. If this was discussed somewhere leading up to or during the season, it came and went pretty quickly. So shame on us too.

"tis the season I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: Way to be on top of things SMU!!I for sure brag about our 3 ships and 1 Heisman when talking to my friends that went to the big boy schools.
