Insiders says he's close to committing to Oklahoma State, pending his mom's approval.

Damn. Hopefully Coach Tubbs can throw a wrench in that plan. Stay in Dallas, Eaton!

Rivals says he's changed his mind and now wants to play both football and basketball, after previously stating a desire to play hoops only.
Maybe this revelation can help us? Surely Coach Bennett and Coach Tubbs could work out a way to share a talent like this.

DE with a cool name interested in SMU

Postby Buddha » Thu Jul 08, 2004 1:12 am

Don't know if he can play, or anything else about him. But Rivals had this listed:

Galen Dunk
Strongside defensive end
Flatonia, Texas
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 205 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.8 seconds

Schools of interest: Houston, SMU, Southwest Texas, TCU

---------------------

For what it's worth, Flatonia is Coach Vinklarek's hometown.

We don't appear to be on Eaton's radar screen right now based on the Rival's article.

His top 3 in basketball are Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, and Georgia Tech.

His top schools for football are Oklahoma and Kansas State.

I have been to K-State in Manhattan, Kansas, and still do not understand the fascination with that place. There must have been a feedlot nearby when I saw it as a kid, because the stench (or to some the smell of money) was unbelievable! It will DEFINITELY wake you up!!!!

Shouldn't this be a thread of it's own? He'd have to add a bunch of weight - and get quicker - to play DE in college.

"Eaton told InsidersHoops.com that his top three consists of Oklahoma State, Cincinnati and Georgia Tech. Admittedly, he said that Paul Hewitt's program really isn't recruiting him all that hard and that the Cowboys are the leader at this point, especially since they will also allow him to play football."

The same report listed the interest level in each school. OSU was listed as "high," and SMU as "none" - sounds like we're on the outside looking in, at least for now.
