TEAM NOTES

SMU wins the Conference USA West with a 6-2 league record. SMU will play in the C-USA championship game for the first time, facing the winner of the C-USA East Division on Dec. 4. The Mustangs will be trying for their first league title since 1984, when SMU earn a co-championship in the Southwest Conference.

The drive that resulted in a 28-yard field goal at 10:50 of the 2nd quarter set season-highs on a drive for plays (18) and time (8:59). Those are also highs for SMU under June Jones.

The 33-yard fumble return for a TD by Ja’Gared Davis is the third non-offensive TD for SMU this year. The Mustangs had an interception return (32 yds, Sterling Moore vs. Rice) and a blocked FG return (77 yds by Davis vs. Rice). It is the first fumble return TD for SMU since Sterling Moore (1 yard) against Navy in 2009.

This was SMU’s first overtime win since a 41-35 home-victory against Tulsa on Nov. 6, 2004. SMU had dropped six straight overtime games since then.

Aldrick Robinson sets SMU season records with 12 TD receptions in a season and seven games with at least 100 receiving yards

This is a great reminder of just how good this offense is, given how high these rankings are all-time in SMU's history. Scary thing is, they are capable of more. Going to be fun watching Padron for 2 more seasons.

Anyone know what happened to Taylor Thompson? I did not see him play. What is DJ's status?

Didn't realize Padron was in range to set those passing records.

Also, when you think of the receivers who have come through SMU — Berry, LeVias, Morris, Sanders — it's a little surprising that Al Robinson is the only one ever to go over 1,000 years in a season twice.

Congratulations to all of those setting new records!

I agree that it is scary that this team has accomplished this much in spite of my feelings that this offense has been inconsistent and sputtered frequently and for long periods in most games during the season. They could be truly frightening if they had consistency and stayed in sync.
