In my opinion this is a great hire for NTSU. He is not well know in the southwest, but he is a proven winner. Anyone who can take ISU to the Big XII title game and a bowl win is a winner.

I hope they retain Canales, as he deserves that job at UNT still as OC, as he did a great job with what he had to work with after the Dodge firing. The kids really played for him and even almost beat a BCS school ( K State) after all the problems they had?...

I personally know Dan have been to his home,have had drinks with him and his wife.
He is an excellent recuiter and a CLASS act as a coach. He will bring in his guys from all over including UCF. Big 12 coach of the year. This is a huge hire for the green.

Fran has bailed on too many programs. The aggie thing was funny but leaving a program every two to three years is what has killed him. No one like admiting they are a stepping stone program regardless of the facts. Hiring Fran is hiring him to leave. Plus he has taken his entire staffs and some recruits with him in the past. Patterson is one of the few coaches that didnt follow him to Bama and Fran tried to poison the TCU Admin against him because he wanted GP in Bama as well.

Kinda sad because he can really coach.
