no, i got the memo, but thinking about it and actually seeing it and going thru it is tuff. Next October seems like a long way off, besides i know Doh will not help next years A+ class get better only worse. Like school you get a bad teacher, usually you get a bad grade.

I hear ya. I was telling someone the other day, that I try and remain big picture objective, even rational about this season, until game time. Then I just get pissed all over again. What a crazy situation. One of the worst SMU teams in history this year, in what was supposed to be a make-or-break year for the head coach. Meanwhile, the roster is deep and talented next year. It's seriously a whole new team.

thats my point i agree the roster is deep and talented but what differnce does it make with the same coach. The past several years have been hell and i dont see the change in coaching you do. even with talented players you need a coach. any pro teams come to mind.

Here's the thing, I'm not a huge fan of Doh's bench ability, never have been, but he really wasn't out-coached that often last year, and actually out-coached a few. Beyond that, who could tell if we're decently coached this year, there just isn't enough legit ballers on the floor, to make that judgement. I actually see the princeton at work more often this year, FWIW.

Also, it's mixed bag on talent development. Some have developed, and some never did. The biggest black mark on Doh, other than W/Ls, is roster management. How does this year happen? Beyond unacceptable.

I'd like to see a change in direction, but let's be real. Doh's bench coaching & teaching isn't holding us back, it's the lack of high end D1 talent that actually matriculates and plays. That's on him too, BTW. I don't really care who coaches, but enough excuses w/regards to players. Load the roster up already. That's how you win. have horses

I've coached basketball and sometimes you need to just let the players play. Other times with less skilled players you need to tinker so that they are shooting from a comfortable spot. What little I have seen of the Ponies the past few years, when we did have talent, they were overcoached to the point they didn't play well, and when we didn't have talent they were forcing shots from places where they never should shoot because time was running out and making ill advised passes. Either way, this small but basic premise seems out of Doh's reach.

That's well & good, but we've never even had Top 5 in CUSA talent under Doh. People want to know why we finish in the back half, it's b/c that's the level of talent we're putting on the floor. Again, that's on Doh too, but the 'coaching' & 'player development' stuff isn't that relevant. Get great players, get great results.

tonight I was told that Doh had one of his "I'm gonna prove who's boss" moments w/ Papa during the La Tech game, and sat Papa for like 9 minutes.

Cmon man...

Yeah. I missed the first couple of minutes of the 2nd half but Papa made some kind of mistake, and was put on the bench. Rich Phillips said Papa was put at the end of the bench for a long time, then was moved up to sit next to Doherty and then was sent back to the end of the bench. Finally went back in when there was some foul trouble.

LOL, I didn't really grasp that through the Tech announcers on Channelsurfing. If that happened, holy moly. Cmon man may not even cover how lame & juvenile that is w/this team.

Its impossible to fathom being right there in a road game, w/this roster, and sacrificing a potential 'w' for a vintage Doh teaching moment. I wish I had seen it, I'd still be fuming
