We get our chance Dec 30 on national TV as well. TIme to step up and show the nation that the fans are serious about SMU football as well.

Notre Dame is roughly the same total enrollment size as SMU and fills their stadium
which is way over twice the size of Ford Stadium for every game. The point isn't that
we can be ND attendance-wise, the point is just because we are small doesn't mean we
can't do a lot better. Ford Stadium is not very big.

Notre Dame' Fall 2009 Enrollment. Undergraduate: 8372; Graduate School: 1915 (10,287 Total)
SMU Total Enrollment: 10,965 (6,240 undergraduates)

Pretty good game day experience - their fans got into it. It was kind of like a disco, played a lot of the new pop hits all game. Our scoreboard is better :)

They play that arena song before kickoff that we have all heard by Zombie Nation.

I'd think they would be a good candidate for the Big East.

Latest rumor about conference expansion. Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri to the Big East. Would make sense to invite UCF also. Another is SMU and Houston to the Mountain West.

Hollywood, that simply was not the case during our Pony Express days.

they fill it because they are the 3rd winning-est program in college football history.

and the fact that they have an extraordinarily strong alumni base, which we don't.

And the fact that many thousands of them live within a 2hr drive of South Bend...in Chicago.

I remember attending a game as a Jr. in HS...not because we gave a rats [deleted] about ND, but because we wanted to experience the atmosphere and soak up the tradition there in front of Touchdown Jesus.

Plus every Catholic in the world that likes football supports ND.

doesn't care who wins.

No reason we can't sell out Ford every game. Let's look at some crazy restrictions on potential ticket buyers:

DFW metroplex has more than 6 million people.

If we want to be very, very conservative in estimate, let's say that no women whatsoever will attend the game. 6 million * .49 = 2.94 million men.

DFW is 20% hispanic, let's say that no hispanics whatsoever will attend the game because they are watching soccer. 2.94 million * .8 = 2.352 million possible attendees.

Couldn't find breakdowns for the whole metroplex, but I'll assume it's similar to Dallas proper:

47.1% of the population is age 18-44. Let's say that nobody older than 44 and no minors whatsoever will attend the game. 2.352 million * .471 = 1107792 people.

17.8% of the popluation is below poverty line. Let's say that none of them can afford a ticket to the game. 1107792 * .822 = 910605 potential sales.

Even under these obviously ridiculous restrictions, to Fill ford we still only have to get 3.5% of that pool of people to attend the game.

We should be able to do this.

TV is the key. If people see it on TV they would be more willing to attend games.

I don't know why anyone would compare SMU to Notre Dame-the best comparison is about 45 miles to the west. My problem is that success has not been met with comparable improvement in attendance. If you take the 1-2-3 years of the rebirth of TCU football we are falling behind that curve significantly. Needs to be addressed with some kind of campaign to build a permanent fanbase if we hope to raise the profile of the program.

Not really, we've been on TV more this year than almost any other year. Every game except for Marshall I think.
