I doubt those two schools would pose much of a threat to SMU for Preston.

Colorado doesn't even have a Coach yet do they?

First time head coach? Not impressive. A move worthy of the SMU of old.
A proven winner is far more preferable.

the better we get, the better chance we lose some guys who get concerned about playing time. if a guy backs off because he doesn't want to have to compete for playing time, I'm not sure he's the kind of guy we want. Not suggesting that's the case here, but we've got some young starters that will be hard to unseat.

There are two absolutely blonde beautiful girls from my church...one at CU, the other at UC. There are plenty of pretty girls to go around. SMU doens't have em all.

We don't have them all. CU has one and UC has one.
We have the rest.
Just send 'da money.

So any large state school with the exception of Cal could definetlythrow down in a hottie competion so lets hope he likes every thing else SMU has to offer
Re: SMU losing grip on commit Preston?
From the recruiting articles I've read the past few years since JJ has been here, it would appear the staff tells the kids to take their visits and make sure SMU is where they want to be. In my opinion, they only do this to kids they think they have no chance of losing or kids they wouldn't lose sleep over if they decommited. You decide which category Preston falls in to. I believe since JJ is so picky with QB's, Preston is one they are not afraid of leaving if he does indeed decide to look at other schools.
The other side of this is when the put the brakes on players they really want or think we might lose. There was a commit recently who had scheduled an official visit to another school and then almost immediately the recruit cancels his visit to that school. I'm convinced the coaching staff was behind this and would do it with Preston if a) they thought their was a chance he would go elsewhere and b) they would be sad to see him leave.

You need to focus on the sermon.

Re: SMU losing grip on commit Preston?
I understood that Preston has family in Dallas, he has SMU ties and his immediate family in CA was considering moving to Dallas. I believe he also had talked about graduating early at one point but there was an issue as to whether a scholarship would be available for the spring. Sounds like with all the new interest, JJ needs to find a spring ship.
Re: SMU losing grip on commit Preston?
The three recruits from Cali are pretty tight and bonded during their SMU visit and just last week the other two went together and watched Conner play a playoff game..they seem pretty content to come elevate the program......together!
