I like Sherrington, but I have to disagree with him on this one. Interesting article, though.

DMN: Big XII Won't Lasthttp://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 8c6b1.html
I like Sherrington, but I have to disagree with him on this one. Interesting article, though.
Re: DMN: Big XII Won't LastWhen he asks why the Big 12 did not snap up TCU before the Big East, he displays a ton of ignorance.
Re: DMN: Big XII Won't LastThe key is for us to improve on the field, in the stadium and with ratings so we are attractive when the next round off conference changes happen. Of course the chase for money by conferences insures a great deal of instability for college football conferences going forward.
Its kinda like marrying for money and not for the commitment.
Re: DMN: Big XII Won't LastOther than the conference misnomer, I think the Big XII may be just fine without a championship game. Makes the Texas/OU and subsequent OU/OSU and UT/A$M games that much bigger. Because Texas and OU are big names in college football, they will get title game consideration in any year they run the table
Re: DMN: Big XII Won't LastThe Big XII will not last because there is no loyalty from the schools of the old Big Eight (Big XII North). Right or wrong the perception is that the Texas schools dominate all conference decisions with no consideration to the schools of the old Big Eight. Any or all of the schools of the old Big Eight will jump out of the Big XII the first chance they get. Add to the equation the possibilty that OU and/or A&M will take off for the SEC when the time is right. There is no question the Big XII is living on borrowed time and will fold in the next round of conference realignments.
Re: DMN: Big XII Won't Lastthere may be no loyalty, but there has to be a better option for anyone to leave and until the current system evolves into the next generation structure, I don't see where those options are.
Re: DMN: Big XII Won't LastNotice how he says they didn't take TCU, Houston, or Tulsa. Absent was SMU. We aren't a hot commodity, but apparently we aren't even an afterthought to a DMN columnist.
