Now that everyone is done

Postby Duke Blue Blood » Mon Dec 06, 2010 11:50 pm

getting the frustration of their chests, let me remind you all that SMU is going to its 2nd Straight Bowl. Don't forget how bad it felt going 0-12 and 1-11. I know I was "animated" to say the least. Nothing wrong with wanting to win, I get it.

In other news. This was my 2nd time to UCF and have to say, that campus is exploding. They have like 50,000 students and it is pathetic that since it is/was a commuter school (hence they all MUST have cars) they could not fill that "erector set" they call a stadium.

I was in the UCF section again and once again was "greeted" with "you suck", "UCF Rules" etc. etc. for a good part of the game. But, since their oldest alum is 35, I let it go.

With that said, most of the guys that I know from UCF are good people.

Ultimately I am just glad we can complain about getting to another bowl.

Just like all fans. 99% of them did not say a thing and just cheered for their team. You always have the drunk guys who just can't help themselves because their hours got cut at 7-11.

ECU's drunks were a lot of fun. Pretty witty outburts at their own team and general funnies. No weak-ass smack talk.

What we need is to have people show up for the home games - people who not only enjoy the Boulevard, but those who actually go into the stadium and STAY for the entire game, regardless of the outcome.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

Couple of incidents:

First, as my friend and I walked the 2 miles across campus from the parking garage, we made our way through the main tailgate area. A round of hearty boo's erupted, all in good fun, only to be followed by a group of a$$clowns who started throwing ice balls at us. One of the iceballs landed squarely on my buddy's chest, and when it shattered, there was something else hard packed inside. NOT COOL! They kept throwing them at us as we walked away...when they started hitting their own fans, they stopped.

Much more entertaining was the UCF fan who found his way to the back of the lower SMU section and started chanting U-C-F...he lasted about 12 seconds before the state trooper directly behind him grabbed him by the shirt and yelled, "Leave this section or I will arrest you!" Student replied, "I'm not doing anything...what's your name, officer?" Officer yelled back, "Did you not hear me, I'm going to kick your [deleted] out!"...he left.

But, we were also approached by numerous fans who were extremely friendly and welcoming. Lots of them noted how cool it was that we actually flew in just for the game. Really nice people.

I warned you about the similarities of Texas Tech
I made my way over to the 50 yard line in the handy cap section because my back was killing me. I was wearing a UCF jersey in honor of my son but had a Mustang Cap all day except when I plopped down in front of the UCF crowd. I tucked my cap in my back pocket only to get a blistering from the UCF fans in the front row, when I mentioned my son played there they remembered who he was and gave me a free pass.
