Yeah I knew that but after all the other mistakes I made on this thread I was afraid I had misread that also. They interviewed him the other day and he emphasized that although the adopting mom was a tough woman that she never got involved in any of his coaching as was portrayed in the film.

Where are NFL Salaries now - $5M? Why is June Jones salary under University rather than Non-University? We are paying a TON more than any other CUSA school. up to 7xmore. Wow

OK Karl Marx. When Jones gets us to where he will be getting us - a BCS bowl and a BCS conference, his skills will be paying us back many times what SMU's boosters are paying him.

Coach salaries are shooting up because TV revenue is shooting up, and coaches are worth it.

The right salary is what the market can bear.

Considering that SMU is one of the schools that is willing to pay large amounts in order to win, it would be counterproductive for SMU to support a salary cap. To do so would be to place SMU on an even playing field with Memphis and UAB, which is exactly what SMU does not need.

Let the poor programs call for a salary cap.

exactly. plus, if we're not going to pay our players like the big boys are doing, we have to make up for it in other ways. pay for the best coach we can get.

i've never understood why NFL coaches don't make more. it's painfully obvious that coaching makes a difference, and there's no cap for coaches like there is for players. (same holds for all pro & college sports). Bill Bilacheck & his staff should make twice whatever they're getting (that includes their scouting dept - best in the league).
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Coaching matters much more in the NFL than in College Football. In the NFL everybody gets 1 First Round Draft Choice and the worst team picks first. In College the best teams like USC, Texas, OU, Alabama and Florida pick first and can get 10-12 First Round Draft Choices every year. The worst teams pick up the scraps.

coaching yes, scouting definitely. the pats have one of, if not the, best scouting dept in the country. hell, look to their QB who was a backup at Michigan and is now considered one of the best modern era QBs. guys like welker too. they constantly reload and keep payroll comparatively low by not paying high dollar free agents and building from within.

PF-

With what we represented, and with the history of the past 25 years, June Jones has earned every bit of his compensation by digging out of the doldrums...I will be happy to send my $25.99 to retain him.
