BRYAN McCANN: Success is no accident

Postby PonyPride » Thu Nov 25, 2010 8:37 pm

Few rookies have burst into the national spotlight like Dallas Cowboys cornerback Bryan McCann. In his first three weeks as a member of the team's active roster, he has a 101-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 97-yard punt return for a touchdown, and two NFC Player of the Week awards (one defensive, one special teams).

His teammates are having fun at the expense of their suddenly-famous teammate, but underneath the jokes and heckling is a genuine respect for the rookie from SMU. McCann visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his fast start, and how he has kept his early success in perspective.

What were the knocks on McCann that he went undrafted?

The primary knock was that they (NFL scouts) were concerned about his size and strength. They knew he could run; after Pro Day, they REALLY knew he could run.
