Wow! The Aggies Loved Pony Excess

Postby Stallion » Sun Dec 12, 2010 4:17 am

I thought that there would be a strong negative reaction because of the accusations made against Texas A&M. The best thing the Aggies ever did was show Jackie Sherrill the back door. I truly believe that under Mobley and Slocum there was an effort to clean up that program. BTW I was dating an Aggie who was a Big Time Aggie Legacy at the time and attended that A&M game where they invited the Mustang Band to perform at Halftime. Never liked the Aggies but that was pretty damn cool. I also attended the first SMU/A&M game where they put 64 points on us. I was sitting in the middle of an Aggie Big Roller Section and they actually really felt my pain. They kept saying we'd be back in a few years-and I kept shaking my head because I knew what Pye had done to the program.

I had an Aggie buddy in those years who told me some great stories; his son was a yell leader and he knew a lot about how they would meet their payroll and how they went about recruiting. Lots of stories about [deleted]'t coaches dropping in on high dollar card games with prominent Houston boosters and leaving with wads of cash as they went off to visit recruits...and then there were the sales of player tickets...always to very loyal and generous Aggie$

He (jokingly) told me we had to be taken down because we were paying our 3rd team RBs too much

Aggie$ were good at this game (and might still be?) because they keep things "in house" and are a tight knit group

Had a friend in my hometown that's father was an Aggie sugar daddy. My buddy hated it cause he was at A$M at the time and was the bag man for his father and his 'player'. My buddy hated it cause the player was always arrogant and in your face when he dropped off the monthly payment.

Sad thing is both of us accepted it as business as usual.

Now interestingly, the player was a kid I played against in high school and knew. So he and I had a few discussions and he wasn't happy with the situation either. Loved the cash but didn't like the payment method.

Another one from the Ag Board:

It was great. Me n the wife were glued to the TV.

I was shocked about the gov. tho'. I didn't remember that.

I did find myself rooting for the ponies too. I hope they win their bowl game.

Found this posted on volnation.com by an Aggie:

"On behalf of the University, we'd like our car back. We'd also appreciate it if he would return the 121 yards and three touchdowns he scored against us."

Great post.

When our band played at halftime at A&M back in 2005, the A&M fans really cheered for them, and I thought that was very classy.

I loved the clip showing the SMU Cheerleader and the Aggie SS. I did not remember the Aggie getting knocked on his arse by the SMU Cheerleader. I was so proud! Who was that and why is he not enshrined at Ford Stadium?

Read this on the ATM Board...

The sips did what they always do: use everything at their disposal to destroy anyone who dare threaten their sacred football program.

SMU realized they had enough money to outbid everyone for recruits and could buy themselves all the best recruits. The sips sicked the NCAA and their journalists on SMU and made sure that once again the system was changed to make sure they got first dibs on all the best recruits.

If A&M goes on a run, be prepared. They will sick every last one of their journalism majors on us to talk about how we are are a bunch of racist, hillbilly cheaters (incredibly ironic coming from Klanhorn U)and keep throwing out accusations until the smoke can generate a real fire with the NCAA.

Who or what is/are "sips" ?

I assume he is referring to the Whorns but have never seen this term "sips" before.

They call 'em Tea Sippers or Tea sips. I should know why cause my dad is a huge aggie, but I cannot tell you where the term comes from.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tea-sip

One who attends or attended the University of Texas (t.u.) in Austin, Texas.

The term tea-sip (also spelled teasip, t-sip, or t sip) was started by students of Texas A&M University (aka. Aggies) in the early 1900's to belittle the well-to-do students of t.u.
The University of Texas was traditionally the "rich" school which pumped out doctors, lawyers and the like. A&M was the blue collar school which traditionally taught Agriculture and Mechanics (engineering).
The Aggies play the teasips on Thanksgiving day.

I'm sick of all those hippy teasips in Austin.
