I do not care how fast he runs the 40. Only care how fast he runs the 2. If he has to run forty yards, he is probably chasing the man that got by him and is going after the QB. Big, strong upper body and quick feet. Let them rest after a 2 yard move and the pass is off or the back is past.

I know a sportswriter who used to cover the Nebraska football team. He said that during an interview with the offensive line coach, he was told that 40 times are meaningless, at least with linemen -- they're just numbers for recruitniks. The OL coach told him that when an OL prospect comes to visit/camp at Nebraska, they time him in a series of shuttle drills and a 10-yard dash, to measure explosiveness and quickness. He said the same thing mrydel is saying -- if an OL is running 40 yards, someone has messed up bad.
