A strong hire by Kansas.

Tulsa has a long history of making excellent hires. I am curious who they will now choose to lead their athletic department.

I don't think he can get away with firing Turner Gill after only one season.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Perhaps the new athletic director can create a clever tale regarding hamburgers and laundry detergent. Yes, no one will be suspicious...

Bubba started his career right along side one Steve Orsini. I hope he has success at Kansas.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

And then those excellent hires - both staff & coaches - keep getting headhunted away to larger programs. Particularly whenever their basketball team gets good. Seems to happen every time.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

There was a time not long ago when SMU fans could only dream of having a coach other teams would actually want. It was my greatest desire that someone would hire the disaster Bennett away. Two goals would have been achieved: SMU would win, and the horrible Bennett would be gone. It was a silly dream, but it was mine.

Speaking of Bennett, I think his biggest fault was that he simply did not think highly enough of SMU's program. We all know that there were several recruits that he never tried for because he KNEW they wouldn't come to SMU (Moreland would have been in this category), which hampered his recruiting. He also never really had a way to instill a "winning attitude" (like what JJ talks about) and that's why the team lost so many close games when he was here (as opposed to winning the close ones as we have done more often than not under Jones). This could be attributed to the fact that he had spent the majority of his coaching career at programs like A&M, K-State, etc. that already were winning programs. He didn't know how to build because he didn't wholeheartedly believe that SMU could be that type of program.

I would say his greatest mistake was not changing defensive coordinators. Such a horrible defense.

Bennett also only wanted to offer scholarships to players he believed would commit to SMU, which reduced SMU to almost exclusively offering "sleepers."

But I agree, Bennett's actions demonstrate that he had no confidence in SMU.

Apparently Cunningham is not going to KU after all, at least according to this:
