Man, what an awesome conference! I am fired up to see the progress this team will make from last year to this year! Coach Bennett is an inspiring guy.

I found these quotes interesting:

"We are on par with everybody in the country" (recruiting standards wise)

"We had the #1 or 2 recruiting class in the WAC the last 2 years"

"Next 2 or 3 years are crucial"

"Admission standards were absurd"

Unfortunately we could have a young team starting out 1-4 in the first 5 games seeing that 4 of the 5 are bowl teams.

A 1-4 start would mean a win, which is an improvement. But call me crazy, but I think we could start out better than that. The start of the schedule is a killer, but I think we beat SJSU, and I think we can compete in two of the first three. If we can keep either game close .... who knows?

In order of possibilities, I'd say in the first five game would be :

San Jose State
TCU
Texas Tech
Boise State
Ok State
Pony Up

Bennett has to be really embarrassed that he couldn't remember Townsend Hargis' name. Let's hope the big fella gives him reason to remember him this year and goes out with a stellar senior season.

How nice would it be for the older guys to hold up this year on the OL? With Kieschnick moving to center, I wonder if there is any chance Bryan Turner could be redshirted this year? I hated to see him pushed into action as a true frosh, because he's a guy who could help in the interior of the OL for 3 more years. Sure would like to see him around for 3 years of CUSA play.

Any others who played as true frosh last year who might be RS candidates this year?

Oh, I don't know -- we all have our moments when we forget someone's name, even someone close to us. (Having said that, I hope you're right that Townsend comes out and plays so well he can't be ignored!) Coach B was in front of a bunch of reporters, and he has about 100 kids to remember -- I wouldn't take that as anything more than a momentary slip.

Of the true freshmen I remember playing last year, I can't think of a redshirt candidate. The freshmen I remember playing would be: Bryan Turner, Blake Warren, Reynaldo Pellerin, Jay'Mond Cleveland, Joey Sturdivant, Desmond Jones, Brandon Bonds .... I think that's it. And I can't imagine any of them sitting down for a year, barring injury. (That doesn't include Richuel Massey, who played briefly enough that he was able to regain his redshirt status, leaving him with four years of eligibility.)
