So I guess UAPB still ranks as the crown jewel.
How can SC-Upstate not be in the top spot?

Re: I hate McMurray(?)
What exactly should SMU fans have been buying the past four years?
And what does that say about Doherty?
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
Its says that Doh's roster management has been garbage, simple as that. THat said, whether by skill or luck, next year's roster is BY FAR the most complete Last edited by PonyDoh on Mon Dec 20, 2010 11:15 am, edited 1 time in total.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
and with that, agree/disagree that roster management is a requisite for a D1 head coach I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
its the biggest part of being a coach. Talent is everything. X & Os win or lose maybe 4 or 5 games a year. All of it is on Doh, if that's what you're going for. This year is seriously unlike any I've ever seen in sport. I don't think many will disagree that this is nuts. I'm just saying no matter who is coach here next year, we have legit talent in the pipeline. To me, looking at the roster 1-13 next year, makes it easy for me to gloss over garbage like we saw in Abilene. I'm not wasting the energy on this team, but I am excited about the future. We're not going to suck if Doh coaches next year, and we're not going to be great if someone else is our coach. Bottom line is that next year we have enough horses to get after high mids and high majors. We have upper tier CUSA talent. That's more hope than we've seen in 10 years, Doh or no Doh. Some of you get lost in minutia like McMurry. This program's focus needs to be down the road. Doh has good systems in place now, taught by a quality coaches. I'm not advocating his return at all. At this point, I'm not getting a burr under my saddle about this years team either. The most important thing that happens this winter is the 5th ship, and if we open a 6th. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
And the current coach can't even match the W/L records when the program was in "total shambles" and played a slightly tougher schedule. So what does that say?
100% agreement on that point!
Yes, there's always next year. When Doherty was hired, who knew we were signing up for a 10 year plan?
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
At the time he was hired, I would have been in favor of a decade-long deal. I was pumped! Now, I've quit going because I just can't stand to watch it. (And I bought season tickets for this year) What a disappointment he has turned out to be.
Re: I hate McMurray(?)RICHARDSON, Texas --- McMurry University, a founding member of the American Southwest Conference and member of NCAA Division III, announced December 17 that it will be seeking to reclassify as a NCAA Division II institution. The decision to seek divisional affiliation change resulted from studies conducted by the McMurry University Board of Trustees over the last several months. Rising to the top of the advantages in the decision for pending reclassification was the positive impact it would have on the entire McMurry community.
The American Southwest Conference respects McMurry University’s decision to examine its academic, athletic and institutional goals and objectives within the mission of the University, and will assist as needed in the transition process. At the same time, the ASC membership looks forward to welcoming a new institution – Centenary College of Louisiana in fall 2011 – and studying options to strengthen conference and Division III affiliation among institutions. McMurry University joined the American Southwest Conference and NCAA Division III beginning with the 1996-97 school year. During the transitional period announced December 17, President Dr. John Russell said that McMurry intends and desires to be a competing member of both the ASC and the NCAA Division III until the guidelines for transition are met based on the NCAA's timeline and requirements for reclassification.
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
Might be a closer, more competitive game next time if they've made the transition to D2... ![]() Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
Second season.
Re: I hate McMurray(?)
UAPB was at least a full member of D1. USC-Upstate and NC-A&T were both D2 schools in the transition phase of moving up to D1, when they beat us. They were ineligible for the NCAA tournament, and were 3 years away from full D1 status.
