Someone needs to make sure Copeland sees that Star Telegram story by Jim Reeves posted on the Ponyfans home page. If Waters is not a top candidate for HC we may be making a big mistake. Here is a guy with a real desire to make SMU his home who has great coaching contacts all over the place. You want media attention? Charlie could bring that easily. Even our good friend Dale Hanson Image likes him and thinks he is what SMU needs. Man this is going to be a tough call for Big Jim.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

PK I think I'm with ya on this one. Of course I will support whomever Big Jim chooses, but after reading Reeves' article, I gotta go with Waters. I don't like the "stepping stone" theory. In my opinion, it is something that cheapens the integrity of this program. People point to Tulsa's b-ball program as a model for this, but I don't think that's fair. First of all, it's a whole lot easier to build a decent basketball program than a decent football program, and secondly up and coming coaches don't grow on trees. If we happen to guess wrong, it sets us back substantially(see:Mike Cavan)

I think Waters is a guy who will stick with this program, build it up, and keep it up. I'm done...Charlie's my choice.

Well it has been fun, but the bottom line is that it doesn't matter who WE like. Big Jim and any committee he may have helping will make the decision. I just pray it is a good one and that he/they make it SOON!!!!
