I saw SMU play last year and I saw VMI play last year. We would have beaten VMI pretty handily. VMI did not have size at all. I would love to see us play some of the eastern 1-AA teams like Delaware, William & Mary, VMI, Northeastern, Villanova, etc. We would probably get a win. Copeland is friends with the VMI, W&M, Delaware AD's from his days at UVa.

With the poor attendance that SMU has, we will probably have an opportunity to play many of those Div 1-AA schools that you mention given that the program appears to be in a death spiral out of Div 1.

Given the attendance issue, the only eastern teams we can afford to schedule are Army & Navy and I'd love to continue playing navy. Until we start winning. I'd like to see Baylor and UNT on the schedule before any eastern teams. I'm concerned about attendance figures when Northwestern and Wake Forest visit.

Wonder what ever happened to Army & Navy becoming "associate" members of CUSA? I'm still expecting something to be announced before the 2005 season.
