Looking to transfer from UT, and SMU is in the lead.
I know that Ponydoh and I have known about this for quite a while, and while his dad may be hyping him up, I think he would be a great addition to the squad for next year.

Re: Shawn WilliamsYes he is a good STUDENT athlete as well...he would be an awesome add and wants to start school in January as well.
Re: Shawn WilliamsThis thing can turn around quickly....let's do it.
From another board: 08 November 2010 - 07:50 PM, said: How much eligibility would he have if he came here? Two and a half. He'll transfer somewhere at the semester break, then be eligible at the new school for the Spring semester (technically, right after the end of the Fall semester) next season. He's a RS Freshman now, so he'll miss November and most of December of next year (his Sophomore year), but be able to play around Christmas through conference season and the late OOC games. Late December-March participation for the 2011-12 season. Then he'll have his full Junior and Senior years of eligibility for 2012-13 and 2013-14. There wouldn't be a total layoff from basketball, either. Williams would be able to practice with his new team as soon as he's enrolled and cleared... He'll only miss 7-8 weeks of organized basketball activity, then be back practicing at his new school in January. More Shawn Williams data: Ranked the 53rd overall best prospect in the country in the class of 2009 by ESPN. Score of 93, 11th best SF prospect that year. 3rd best HS/Prep recruit in the state of Texas that year, tied with Nolan Dennis.
Re: Shawn Williams
From "another board", eh? Looks very familiar. Glad I could help.

Re: Shawn WilliamsThanks for taking the time to drop by and for consolidating the public info.
Merry Christmas
Re: Shawn WilliamsHe would sit out the first 8 games and be eligible after that, NEXT year!
We really have to thank "Cotton" Giles for being a Pied Piper for SMU Basketball....he is a good reason why SMU is getting the respect and notice by recruits again.
Re: Shawn WilliamsAdding Williams would be a low risk, high reward move for this struggling program.
In addition, this team is getting pretty deep. What's been a huge concern to me is the lack of depth. No ones being pushed on a daily basis @ practice. No fear to be replaced. Now the team is about 10-11 deep. Practices will be much more intense. Very competitive situation developing. If Williams comes aboard, adding a quality JUCO big is the final piece to the roster. Potential Roster (12 players listed below) PG- Giles, Alexander SG- Pats, Manuel, Haynes, Clink SF- L. Smith, Williams, Jones PF- RN, Cunningham P- Vilde Of course there are all types of combinations from the roster above. You could have all 3 SF's on the court @ the same time with Manuel & RN. Very athletic, flexible roster. The roster really is getting so much better. Combine this roster with a new HC, & you've got all the ingredients for a quick turnaround. On the flip side, keep Doh around, just like Phil Bennett got a 6th year, & despite all the roster upgrades, nobody gets hyped & Moody remains empty. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: Shawn WilliamsYou are right- the depth next year will be tremendous compared to anything in SMU's recent history. We add a minimum of 7 players that are better than players currently in our 7-man rotation. Granted, our 7 man rotation is pretty darn weak this year...
Also, you forgot about, or chose to admit, Norman and JSam in the returning player list.
Re: Shawn Williams
No disrespect to JSam, but he's a very lucky young man to have a full ride @ the D1 level. I've seen @ least 20 JUCO teams play this season & I'm being conservative to say he wouldn't start for @ least 12-15 of them. I have to believe Norman doesn't come to SMU if there's a coaching change. I think there's a legit chance this team doesn't win more than 1 or 2 conference games. If that happens, how can anyone possibly justify bringing Doh back? Lessons had to be learned bringing Bennett back for year 6. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
