Texas Longhorn Cedric Benson spends not a single day in jail

Postby VarsityShop » Mon Aug 09, 2004 8:30 am

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

Texas Longhorn Running Back Cedric Benson did not spend a single day behind bars after being sentenced to jail time for breaking into an apartment.

Oh how convenient......Travis County just didn't have enough jail beds and had to turn ole Cedric away at the door!

You have to hand it to the Longhorns, they have the best lawyers in the country to always get their players off.

"Served his sentence" just in time for the season!

UT's Cedric Benson finishes sentence

Dallas Morning News - From wire reports

AUSTIN – Texas running back Cedric Benson completed the terms of his eight-day jail sentence Saturday without spending any time behind bars. Benson was sentenced to jail Friday after pleading no contest to misdemeanor criminal trespassing during the 2003 season.

But because of jail crowding, he was able to avoid jail time by earning four days credit for good behavior, two days time served when he was arrested and two days for checking in Friday and Saturday, Travis County sheriff's department spokesman Roger Wade said.

Wade said Benson checked in at the Travis County Correctional Complex in Del Valle on Saturday morning and was released a short time later after paying his $1,000 fine. Benson also was ordered to pay restitution of about $500

This recent story about Ced doesn't bother me so much. I can't blame him for wanting his TV back.

The real coup for Ced was how he was 'acquitted' from his Midland marijuana bust (reeks of teasip involvement). Talk about a finely orchestrated cover up! Let's just say that if an SMU player was found by the cops with a pound of maryjane, the only football he'd be playing would be in the penal league.

No kidding about any of that. And while we are at it, remember again how the large state schools are highly protected. Just look at alabama, florida, florida st., georgia, colorado, michigan, and on and on. How about old nd? A female alum sleeps with players, has a child by one, and steals from the company she worked for to funnel the $$ to nd. What happens?? Exactly.

The Horns have always been privileged. In the 60's, 70's and 80's when we were paying for players, the Horns were certainly in on the bidding. Yet because the UT Pres happened to sit on the disciplinary committee, the Horns never got investigated until late, while we had to rent a room to NCAA investigators they were at SMU so often. Not saying we weren't cheating and not saying we didn't deserve the punishment we received, it just would have been nice if the Horns had joined us in NCAA jail. Never will happen.

As for poor Cedric, too bad he lost his weed to the cops, but I'm sure Ricky W has a few joints to share with a fellow Horn.

Looks like Cedric may have a future in the NBA if he doesn't make it in the NFL.
