AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!Yeah!

Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled! As far as offending tradition, I can get back to you on that one but my gut is telling me they have a more modern approach and just wanted to do something special for one game. I am talking about some of them, maybe some will be happy in white or red jersey. We played in blue this year?
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!
...and maybe some deep pocket booster got wind of it and got in their face about it. When will these guys learn? We may have been beat to a pulp by the DP, but we are still proud of our history and traditions. Stop screwing around with those. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!Personally, I don't remember much blue for the "blue out" against UH (when the team wore red) or much white for the "white out" against Marshall (although the team did get on board for that one at least)...
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!I really hope this is true! If they want to do something different bust out the blue jerseys!!!
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!I guarantee you if the players on this year's team got to their locker and saw exact replicas of the Pony Express jersey they'd be many more times over pumped and excited than the would have been for wearing Maryland's alternate jersey
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!
That would be awesome, but they probably don't have blue jerseys. ![]()
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!
Maybe its a good idea to also appeal to some new generation fans, that way I bet we can fill up more seats with rabble rousers! Hot Diggity!
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled! We've tried about 8 uniform variations in 10 years for the kids and struggle to sell 10,000 tickets for the Ford Stadium Bowl-don't think that is it.

Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!
That is absurd. Do Penn State, USC, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, etc. have attendance issues because they wear traditional uniforms?
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!
How about we just start providing exciting and winning football every year and see how that works on attendance before we start changing uniforms for the annual fashion show? SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled! You tell 'em PK.
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled!again , ONE GAME ! You guys are always complaining about attendance so I concluded that the old generations isn't filling the seats. Going after new fans is a win win..but my only point is, players were excited to support in black and now possibly will be disappointed. Can not argue with that. ND fans go nuts when they bust out the 'greens.....a little change once in awhile is a good, fresh thing
Re: AFB "Black-Out" Cancelled! So how excited would the ND fans be if they busted out black unis? I mean really...
And again, the jerseys are not the issue. It is asking the fans to dress in the opponents colors.
