Bold prediction, we will not win another bowl game or a conference championship with Padron starting at QB. He's just too inconsistent, and he chances are he looks a lot worse next season with no Robinson and Johnson to throw to.

That's a letdown on my birthday, but oh well. I truly hope that is the last "blackout", June to whoever, and a Kelly Turner rant - filled week. Even if the distractions were small, they were still there and SMU did not take a hardnosed Army team seriously. I hope this sits with them through the entire spring and eats away at their guts, so they learn from this moment.

We really need to do some blue outs with some nice 80s jerseys.

Yes, Kelly Turners rant was absolutely dumb and then he couldn't/didn't back it up.

I think KLM is they type of QB who can compliment an offense with some strong established players, but not a QB who will lead a team and make the rest of the offense better.

Reddevil,

It's the RnS, your QB has to do more than simply 'compliment'

I fully agree with you on that point.

It remains to early to give up on Kyle, this was his first full year starting ever (literaly he got hurt his senior year in HS) and he played a lot like a rookie QB showed flashes of his talent and made plenty of mistakes that cost ball games. What it comes down to is he has not learned how to respond to other teams adjustments to his game (clearly, covering and creating confusion on the short and intermediate routes is the way to beat him right now). After another offseason where he really puts the work in and the first 6 games next year will tell if he is the guy or simply the guy to hold the job till June coaches up someone new

I think you are incorrect. KLM has been the starter for 20 games now. That is more games than a lot of D1 qbs ever get to play in. I think after 20 games started, we have a pretty good idea of what we can expect from him over the next two years. This is not to say that there will not be some improvement; however, I think his ceiling is a lot lower than we once thought.

Padron is an OK QB.

By SMU standards he is a good QB.

For where we want to be, not so good a QB.

I could see us upsetting a Tech or TCU thios year or A&M or TCU next year with an all-world performance from our QB.

Simply don't see that in Padron and I agree, 20 games is a lot to base our opinion on.

I don't think it is really fair to include the first 6 games he played in last season, there was no flim on him so teams had to play their base D against him and see how it went. This year was his first year with D's actualy game planing against him. What did we really see this year? Did we see kyle din't have the talent or that Kyle was inconsistant? I think it is the latter but maybe it is the former which you seem to believe. I'm hoping I'm right because young QB's will not take this team with this system to where we want to go

Kyle has been overthrowing guys most of the season - today we were lucky to have our guys go up and get them. I think Holman is going to be really good.

See ya DJ - too bad he won't be a Mustang anymore.

Good luck to AR, great season.

Symanski had a rough year with injuries and accuracy. Make one of those and we win -- terrible way to lose.

The wind seemed to be a huge factor today for throwing and kicking.

Pony Fan, you make some good points. It is time to face reality. SMU is not a very good football team this year, especially offensively. Our secondary is a little weak also. We were lucky to win a few like Tulsa. Next year is a big year for the program. If we don't become a better team. If we don't have more consistent effort and focus on all phases of the game. If our offense does not become a little more deceptive and a little more up tempo, then we are going backward.

Game was a big disappointment, not to beat a dead mustang but that was a huge letdown.
Totally a tale of two different halves with the mistakes (turnovers, missed opp's, poor kicking) being the deciding factor. It turned out in the end not to hurt us but thought all 3 of the timeouts (in 2nd half) were called at times where you didnt need them. Dont understand June's reasoning on all of them.

Really thought this team would be ready to go today and play with some fire.
Congrats to Army and their solid team and fans. Also the Armed Forces bowl committee put on a great show.

As for the Mustang football team and coaches, I sure hope you put out a better product on the field next year.

I hope we don't see the black jerseys again and I hope I can keep calming myself by repeating 'we're still rebuilding..." over and over.

We have to learn how to play a full four quarters.

Very well stated buckwheat. The only thing I could add is that JJ quit wasting valuable time and energy by having Kyle run over to get every play verbally by "the man." This not only tires the hell out of Kyle, but could also keep alot of defenses from getting key personnel in the game to defend in special situations. Please go to a "signal system!!"

JJ addressed this issue at a luncheon I attended. He merely stated that he would change his personal conference on every play at such time as Padron fully understood the offense.
