Re: CFN ANALYSISGood analysis. Army is maybe the worst team we have played in the last two years. However, if you can't catch, can't throw, can't kick, and can't coach, then you lose. I'm still in shock that we let that happen in Dallas.
Re: CFN ANALYSISAn accurate analysis. A terrible game from our coach and offense! Kudos to the defense. They deserved better.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: CFN ANALYSIS
Tulane and Rice say hello.
Re: CFN ANALYSISOne area of maturity one hopes to see improve next year is playing up to our abilities, not down to our opponent's abilities.
Every team we should beat, we find a way to play down to their level. This needs to change. Next, turnovers are killer in any game and we had plenty this year. WE need to do better with ball security and get more turnovers. Two post season games isn't a bad year. I wish we had won more but this team, on several occasions was overmatched and still found a way to play well. Now we just need to win games were we overmatch our opponent.
Re: CFN ANALYSIS
Tulane for sure. Rice has had it's moments. Army has made great improvements and earned their berth in a bowl game. They were very disciplined as one would expect from a military academy and they were hungry and played hard. At the end of the day they had the most points and that is called a win. Congrats. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
CFN ANALYSISI don't usually give CFN much cred when it comes to the Mustangs because it's obvious (in the past) they base their analysis entirely upon stats (probably because we're rarely on national TV).
Good job here despite the fact that it was painful to read. I chalk this loss up to distrations (both players and coaches), immaturity (specifically in not realizing that this game was huge, even if it wasn't played in Memphis or Honolulu), and Army wanting it more. Re: CFN ANALYSIS
Yep. Sums it up pretty well. You don't lose a bowl game at your home field.
