BLACK Uniforms looked good

Every third jersey in the history of sports has been to sell merchandise.

That said, I thought these looked sharp. Wish the team had looked that way.

Sounds like our defense should wear black and all we need to do before next year is find the magic color that makes the offense play well.

After watching Pony Excess, I would say that color is Green.

As much as I prefer the dark Yale blue over the Royal blue, I would have preferred to see our team in our current blue jerseys than the black we wore yesterday. PerunaPunch is correct in that branding is important and using our school colors is an important part of that branding. In the pony express days those uniforms were instantly recognizable as SMU. The blue jerseys would have been a good change from the red if we wanted/needed a change. We are not Texas Tech. Black has never been part of our brand and shouldn't be now.

We looked like Texas Tech, which made me shake my head....but, jerseys sort of grew on me...you are right, it is about $$, merchandising, marketing....all positive things, for a team on the rise.

It is still insulting to say it is to honor the armed forces when it is clear it is to sell merchandise.

That's irony at it's best, since SMU merchandising has been the butt of so many jokes around here. What were there, about 18 black jerseys to be found at local outlets. A Cowboys third jersey, still looks like it belongs to the Cowboys, it's not green or red, or yellow. The only thing that identifies this as SMU is the small SMU under the neckline.

My 17 year old thought they were sick looking...........my husband, who is a Mustang-by-marriage (and b/c he is very smart!!!) was asking me why we were in black. I told him what had been put on here and he asked if JJ didn't have a boss who could say NO to this idea! I thought (hoped) our shirts were dark navy at first. Am glad they wore white pants/helmets, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that black uniforms will NEVER be seen on a SMU football uniform again----------only red & blue.

I think you all had too many drinks on the Blvd...I got multiple texts and heard multiple complaints from our casual fans who actually attended an SMU game for the first time since they graduated....wondering when we adopted Black as a color and asking if we leave tickets for Elvis at Will-call...

Those things were terrible....not an ounce of cool in them...We played terrible in them and they should be burned....

Most around me were hoping that after that 1st half we would march out in some sweet royal blue unis and roll Army in the second half....Thats what we should have done...

Burn the jerseys. We played awful. We looked awful. Stop messing with tradition. Enough already. Were red, white and blue uniforms not patriotic enough? I know it's a recruiting ploy, but it's a terrible look. Bonfire anyone?

Took my whole family 10 of us to bookstore before game, told them gear and tickets were on me, infromed them that team was wearing black today, all saw the jerseys and t-shirts and asked why would SMU wear Black and heard many "super ugly" or " dumb" quotes....

Then proceeded to outfit everyone in red and blue from head to toe...proud to spend $500 on our real colors....Tell your bosses to thank me later...
