Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureUh oh, Rivals just reported conflicting info. I hope PF's is right on this one.
Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his future
You doubt PP's reporting. ![]() ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futuresome confusion as both reports are based on conversations with DJ. I guess we will have to wait and see if he is admitted to school for the spring term.
Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureweird deal - conflicting reports for sure. Let's hope he is back for Spring or Fall.
We really need him as he made some great plays the past few games. Loved watching his highlights from yesterday - much needed plays with after the catch. Last edited by Pony_Fan on Fri Dec 31, 2010 1:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureI wonder if this particular issue was part of the JJ/Maryland leverage deal?

Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureDarius Johnson is a human highlite film as far as catching the ball-really has outstanding hands

Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his future
Actually, I did nothing of the sort, nor would I. I had been told what had been written, but I had not read it and even if I had, it would have been irresponsible to write anything based on hearsay. When I got the chance to ask Darius Johnson about the report, I did, and he (Johnson) said he would be eligible. If another media outlet is reporting otherwise, then one of us is wrong, or perhaps one or more of us have been given inaccurate information. I merely reported what Johnson said. PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureLet me suggest that both could be right. Darius could be on academic suspension based on his grades this semester-but universities generally provide an appeal process that perhaps DJ is pursuing

Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureMaybe they each asked him what the odds of playing next year are, and statistics is a class he failed.

Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his future
Wow. I'm going to have to jump in on this one because that accusation is simply unfair. PonyPride is an award-winning sportswriter. Journalism major from SMU. He's been published in Sports Illustrated, was the researcher for PonyExcess, has been an editor for Dallas Cowboys' publications, several Big XII sports magazines as well as several local newspapers and magazines. He's a pro, and he's been covering the Mustangs for over 20 years. All that is to say the he doesn't make things up or editorialize. He checks his sources and reports just what the coach or athlete says. I didn't read the other piece either, but you can bet your life that if Pride printed it, the athlete said it. "It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureIf you doubt Pride's credentials, then you don't know anything.
Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his future
Yep and PonyPride's favorite team is SMU not some team in west Texas! C-ya @ Milos!

or Minnesota for that matter!!! ![]()
Re: DARIUS JOHNSON: Addressing his futureI had a suite mate who flunked out about 3 times. I think it was the fourth time that was permanent. The fact is that sometimes students get substandard grades and are given a chance to get back into good standing in the spring and summer. I would think that first semester freshman are prime candidates for this treatment. So, let's hope that DJ is treated like any other freshman who had a tough first semester and he gets the help he needs to get his grades in order.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
