Imagine a kid watching on national TV. And they show ED and James on the sideline. Both are well known and both give a positive impression of SMU.

It was good to see Craig on the sideline. I will take that any day of the week. Especially if the game is on national TV and carried by James' employer.

Overall, great game day presentation. Very exciting game and lots of good SMU exposure of which James and ED were a part. Recruits have no idea what James is like when it comes to cheerleading at SMU or not. They do know he played when we were very good and he is a weekly national TV figure on ESPN. How many UT players are in that position? We take what they give us and we are fortunate to have CJ on TV on the SMU sideline.

Love him or hate him, we did get positive TV exposure with him on the sideline.

Several quotes in past I remember Craig James saying while on national tv (ESPN):
"The program (SMU) is a joke."
"We got what we deserved."
"They're embarrassing".
Bad form IMHO....

Unfortunately, when he made those comments it was the truth. It would be great I suppose if he hadn't made those comments, but perhaps he was responding to someone else's comments as opposed to just randomly throwing those comments out there. Just a thought.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Dickerson said on at least one occasion (to the Ticket) that SMU needed to shut down its football program because it was terrible.

Are you really going to argue that our football program was anything less than embarassing and/or a joke for 20 years or so post-DP? These guys are super-competitive in nature, which is part of what made them great athletes in the first place. They want to win, and they hate losing as much (or probably more) than the rest of us.

Cut them both a break - just because they weren't saying what you want to hear doesn't mean it wasn't true. I think it's pretty clear that both are excited about the direction of the program now.

Some of you people are hilarious. "It's high time SMU welcomed back the players from the '80s to the Hilltop family...except for Craig James, who's an @sshole." Never mind that he has a platform where he can be of the most help to SMU. Unbelievable.

Reminder: The Replay is free and availiable to anyone by going to ESPN3. I only watched the First Half last nite so I haven't seen the part where Dickerson and James were on the sidelines

I had no problems with any of the comments made by Dickerson and James yesterday. Stop looking for something that isn't there.

All you need to know about Craig James is that to this day he claims he did not get anything from SMU. In his day, star players like him had their own locker room separate from the other players! His comments about Pony Excess are borderline comical. He wants us to believe that although he was a top 100 recruit nationally, because his girlfriend/future wife went to SMU we never paid him! I like Craig James because he is a Mustang.....he is a total A-Hole....buy he is our A-hole. He also does not think that Lance was a good QB....after watching the Arkansas game, say what you want about Lance, that kid could run the option!

Give it a rest. The vast majority of Pony Fans disagree.

I like Craig James. People who voice their opinion do not bother me. I dont have to always agree with them. When he was criticising our program he was right. I expect him to speak very highly of us when we do something worthy - like win our conference or something.

Dickerson is awesome though...even when he was here I thought we should run him 2 series for every 1 of James - he would still have NCAA records had we done that - and a national championship ring to boot.

I get he is one of ours, and since he is one of ours, I love him. But to not see him for what he is is naive. Without Tad's brilliant documentary, Craig James would not be on the sideline of the bowl game. I genuinely believe that ED watched the bowl game last year and he got wood when we won. He was on the sideline next to Paul Lloyd because he loves his school and wants to see us get back. It is no mystery that he introduced Jones to Orsini.....Craig James knows 20 times as many college coaches as ED yet he never used that to SMU's advantage.

I dont know what I dislike more, James in his child's mediumn sweater claiming to love SMU since SMU and the Pony Excess as in Vouge...or people who defend him.
