I thought Ford was a great venue for a bowl game. Might there be any chance Ford becomes a regular bowl game host? Maybe we should be talking to TicketCity to get the Dallas Bowl...

Re: On a positive note...I couldn't agree more but I believe the Ticket City bowl was created specifically so that the Cotton Bowl could be utilized. We need to make SMU and Ford Stadium the unofficial team of Dallas (even though of course we are in Univ Park) since the Cowboys have moved out West.
Re: On a positive note...Article in DMN today says the bowl was indeed created specifically for the Cotton Bowl. However, it also said they sold about 30k tickets and need to sell 40k to break even.
Pretty sad that they only sold 30k with all the Dallas based Tech alumni and general white trash associated with the school. Out of necessity, they might have to move the game to a smaller venue if attendance doesn't improve over the next few years. #NewLobCity
Re: On a positive note...I keep hearing ads on the radio for the bowl or things sponsored by the bowl, and they keep saying "ticket city bowl" as if the average person has any idea that's at the Cotton Bowl. Perhaps if they advertised it as "at the Cotton Bowl" someone might have a clue the game is being played.

Re: On a positive note...There is a chance of walkups before the game that will make the 40K number. Parking isn't as difficult as Ford stadium and the weather is OK. All that is helps attract the casual fan. A lot of fans (including myself) would not go to a bowl game if the weather was very cold or wet or both. Why suffer when its on TV?
Agree that Ford was a magnificent facility for a bowl and the large crowd in the smaller stadium was so much better than a large stadium with the same size crowd. The feel was just better.
Re: On a positive note...The name "Cotton Bowl" is a trademarked and licensed name which is owned by the corporate(probably non-profit) entity not the City of Dallas-that's why they don't advertise it. Cotton Bowl Stadium has a "prior use" so it continues to be known as Cotton Bowl Stadium.
