Re: If ESPN can see through the smokescreen, why can't we?My thought was "we lost... burn the black jerseys."
![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: If ESPN can see through the smokescreen, why can't we?My thought exactly - they are jinxed now.

doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: If ESPN can see through the smokescreen, why can't we?no burning required. the players were given the choice to buy them as a souvenir I believe. Next year new cut and new material............what color? ....not black, but blue would be nice

![]() And just some of the myriad of Florida Unis... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My stance is the black-out was a horrible idea, and even wearing black jerseys to honor our opponent was a very bad idea. But I'm all for alternate jersey's, no matter the colors, as long as it is a special thing and not a permanent thing. The best thing that can happen for SMU's cool factor is to have Adidas come out with their version of Nike Pro Combat unis and pick SMU as one of the school's who unis they redesign. That will give us cred with the kids and excite our current players as well. I wouldn't mind sporting crazy concept unis once a year. #NewLobCity
Re: If ESPN can see through the smokescreen, why can't we?great find Tycoon with the black Texas jersey, I knew I had seen those before...and to continue adding to gostangs original post, lets take his Alabama example. Sure they may never do that, but we'd be crazy to think that we have the ability to market ourselves the way Alabama can
we have to realize who we are (at this point in time) and what the state of the program is. We have to be creative in the ways we market to recruits and the casual fan. Trust me, if I had it my way, our jerseys would be as simple as humanly possible, and look a lot like the one's from the pony express days, I love the blue. My favorite jerseys in college football are ones like ND's, Bama's, Michigan, Penn st.'s, etc. but schools like that are well established and sell enormous amounts of merchandise every year, its why we've seen schools like OK St., Maryland, Oregon, Cincy, Oregon st., and Miami do this to sort of market themselves in a fresh and unique way. Hell, we've seen schools like Georgia, Florida st., and Tennessee do this as well, and there is reason behind it, its cool and hip, and looks good. If you don't think our black looked good, I think you're either being stubborn or just dont have an eye for good looking jerseys. #GodFather #Tempo
Re: If ESPN can see through the smokescreen, why can't we?But I will say this, I actually don't like most of Nike's pro combat jerseys, I think those are in fact way over the top, third jerseys must be kept in reason and not flat out over the top.
Tycoon, I believe ADIDAS is going to be fitting us with the Tech Fit jerseys next year, at least I'e heard that floated around, and that would be pretty cool in my opinion here's a photo of UCLA in them http://tinyurl.com/2dtk3tf they may not look amazing, but I like that ADIDAS keeps them simple and traditional, and they fit really well, like Pro Jerseys fit, they are tight and not easily grabbed, but also allow for a great range of motion. Billy Dugal told me the team got to try one on this year(i believe it was an A&M jersey or something) and said all the guys were really loving them, and that felt loads better than ones we are wearing now #GodFather #Tempo
Re: If ESPN can see through the smokescreen, why can't we?
Lighten up. Without the football team, nobody would give a damn about uniforms or mascots or the band. They're nice, but they exist to support the football team (or other teams). If those things are more important than the team, maybe you should go root for J.J. Pearce High School. As someone pointed out in another thread, the tradition around SMU for the last 20 years has been spending December at home. The program is at a level we haven't enjoyed in two decades. I hate seeing the Ponies lose, and black jerseys aren't my choice, but I'll drive a few hours to see my Mustangs wearing any jersey in a bowl game every year.
