Cotton Bowl BCS Bound?
I was watching a report on the news last night that the Cotton Bowl would probably become a BCS bowl. If this happens, who do you think would play in this additional BCS bowl?
Does the cartel add two conferences for AQ?
Do the mid-majors have an easier (not easy) road to a BCS bowl?
Do they just take the second place teams from current AQ confences?
Is the national championship game played in a bowl and no longer played as a second game for a bowl?

MNC rotates among the 5 rather than as a second game for the existing 4 stadium rotation
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

What are the contract implications as ESPN hosts the BcS bowls while the Cotton Bowl is a Fox Sports venue?
Probably more hurdles from this than who plays where.

TV rights would be sticky, but I'd like to continue to see Big XII/SEC.

Re: Cotton Bowl BCS Bound?
i believe that is part of the reason they moved to arlington to play the game in a domed stadium w/ over 100k capacity.

Re: Cotton Bowl BCS Bound?
Means that a NonAQ team with a perfect record probably won't get to play in the Rose Bowl again - the Pac 12 and Big 1x (or Whatever) will certainly lobby to protect their turf if this happens.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.
Re: Cotton Bowl BCS Bound?
Yes, make CUSA and MWC AQ Conferences. We take TCU, Louisville and Cincinnati and give the Big East UCF, ECU and Marshall. CUSA hosts the Cotton alternating with Big 12. Fiesta alternates with MWC and Big 12. Makes too much sense to come true, doesn't it.

This doesn't pass the litmus test of being related to SMU or anything related to SMU's conference or SMU's opponents.
It must be banned. Where is the SMU angle in all of this? Relevance?
Thanks, sweetcakes!

Simmadon now, Senator - do you even know how to conduct a properly validated litmus test? And just who you callin' sweetcakes, foureyes?

You've been trying to get stuff banned all over the place these last few days - you trying to push some political agenda or something? I'm shocked, shocked at the blatant attempt to draw attention away from that which is currently entertaining many of us during this bleak time of the year, when football is over, and basketball is barely relevant.
Now, I suppose you're going to say this comment should be banned because I mentioned basketball in a football thread. For shame, Senator, for shame. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

I would LOVE to see SMU play in the Cotton Bowl again someday. BCS or no-BCS, the symbolism would be awesome. Of course, I'm not sure how one gets past the whole conference tie-in thing if its not a BCS game.

Don't you think the Cotton Bowl would then be subject to the same non-AQ provisions that the Rose Bowl had to swallow this year in having TCU instead of a Pac-10 team? You betcha! There's your "get-past-the-whole-conference-tie-in" solution right there - we would just have to qualify for a BCS game the year the conciliation rotation fell to the Cotton.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

Playing in a domed stadium is THE reason the Cotton Bowl moved to Arlington. A lot of people are convinced the Cotton Bowl would have been a BCS game when the BCS was first formed if not for the weather.
I'm not sure if it would have bumped the Fiesta or what, but you can't have a national championship game in a place where it might snow. There's too many millions at stake to risk playing a game in an ice storm.
That the stadium in Fair Park is a woefully outdated facility was the No. 2 reason for the move. The old Cotton Bowl Stadium is fun for one weekend in October when the State Fair is going on, but that's about it.
