or # 27 Der'rikk Thompson SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Add 2 more to the commit list!
PK I cant wait for the day when we have some depth where our hopes for the next season aren't riding on a guy thats never caught a ball in a college game and mainly played safety in High School. But I hear D-Reeek is a great athlete, but still can't figure out why we don't have more proven higher ranked WR's after June's 3rd year. Hopefully we will soon. C-ya @ Milos!

Don't have an answer for you. BTW, I was just trying to get the correct spelling of the kid's name out there. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Re: Add 2 more to the commit list!Guys top WR's want to go to programs with 2 WR sets so they can be "the guy". If you go to a june jones's offense you 1) lose a bunch of receptions to other people 2) have your numbers downgraded because of the "system" and 3) are expected to be able to read and think quickly to be able to get on the field, most top recruits want to be told run down the field and out compete the guy.
Re: Add 2 more to the commit list!
So Pony_Law did Emmanuel Sanders not really have a comparable number of catches last year compared to say a reciever at say Ohio State? I am not disagreeing with your theory, I just dont know myself how say an ES number of catches compares to a top WR at OSU, Texas, TCU, or like USC? C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Add 2 more to the commit list!OK so your compairing ES numbers against a running team (OS), a spread team (texas and Shiply's numbers were comparable), a team with a freshman QB (USC), and another running team (TCU). But this proves my point about number 2, ES had great numbers but they are downgraded as compared to Shiply because he was in the R&S, Look at Ted Ginn from OS never had great numbers and demonstrated poor hands but because he was the "playmaker" at OS he went in the first round.
Re: Add 2 more to the commit list!Emmanuel Sanders senior year. Ranks as SMU's all-time leader in career catches, TD catches and yards, single-season and single-game receptions and single-season yardage…holds SMU records for career 100-yard-receiving games with 16 and season 100-yard games with six (2008)…only player in SMU history to record four 600-yard receiving seasons - no other receiver has three…sociology major. 2009: Started all 13 games, earning first team All-C-USA honors…had 98 receptions for 1,339 yards and seven touchdowns…returned 20 punts for 275 yards and one touchdown…averaged 124.6 all-purpose yards per game…ranked sixth in the NCAA with 103 yards per game receiving…his 98 receptions were seventh best in the NCAA…finished his career as SMU's career leader in receptions (235), touchdown catches (34) and yards (3,791)…in his final game, had seven catches for 124 yards and a score in helping SMU to a 45-10 win over Nevada in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl…
Re: Add 2 more to the commit list!Plus - dont think ES numbers were downgraded as compared to Shipley - I believe ES went before shipley in the draft.
