The Doaker vs. what appears to be the entire Texas team in 1947. Where's the convoy, Doak? Still, it's nice to see him STIFF-ARMING that poor FACEMASK-LESS Longhorn.

From MrMustang1965

Image

"Yes, that's me - being presented with a football signed by the entire 1965 SMU football team - at the BBQ prior to going to the SMU v. Texas Homecoming game in 1965 at the Cotton Bowl. I got to ride in a '64 Mustang convertible with all the cheerleaders and then sit on the sideline with them and the team during the entire game! Still a cherished memory."

Image

"That's my father, the late I.T. Hurst, second from the left...this
photo was taken on the steps of Dallas Hall at SMU in 1947 shortly
before the Mustangs traveled to the west coast to play UCLA! Dad and
the other yell leaders took Peruna, the SMU mascot, on the train with
them...and when they got to L.A. they rented a cab and put Peruna in
it, too! Sounds like a scene out of a movie! The newspaper article is
from a 1947 issue of The Daily Campus, the SMU student newspaper.
GO MUSTANGS!"

Image

"That's my father again - the late I.T. Hurst, SMU '48 - along with his date, Patricia Newman (who he later married and is my mother!) - on their way to an SMU football game in 1947 at Ownby Stadium on the SMU campus."

Image

"The bottom photo is of the SMU yell leading squad getting ready to board the train to go the SMU v. UCLA game in '47. Center is my father - the late I.T. Hurst, SMU '48 - his future wife (my mother Patricia Newman) and my grandmother, Ruby Hurst of Waco and my uncle, James Hurst, age 4. That's Joe Redwine Patterson, head yell leader, kneeling in front. You can still see Joe at almost every SMU football and basketball game to this day!"
