Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPJust don't try and take an unfinished meatball, soda, or water back to your seat after halftime. I was chastised last year and made to pound my half finished water before I could leave.
Way to treat your bread and butter, life sustaining donors SMU! First class in every way. #NewLobCity
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTP
Eat your meal in the designated area. Stop acting entitled.
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPI was actually just trying to take my half finished, $500 plastic and portable bottle of water back to my seat. Didn't realize that was acting entitled.
I don't eat at those things. You probably work in the athletic department and your type of thinking is exactly why our athletic program more closely resembles a high school atmosphere as opposed to a D1 organization. #NewLobCity
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPThat's a ridiculous comment. Maybe there are rules that people can't take that stuff into the arena for whatever reason.
Maybe it wasn't explained to you well or the hired help aren't the brightest bulbs in the stores. But for you to feel "offended" because you couldn't take your water back to your seat actually does speak to your entitlement. Either that, or you're very senstive. All I do is follow the rules. Maybe you should. Last edited by Mitch McConnell on Thu Jan 06, 2011 11:44 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPIt's on like donkey kong
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPI don’t know whose worse me or you guys!
![]() Ah yes the $ 500 meatballs !!!
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPI wouldn't know since I haven't been to a BB halftime thing in years. Of course, I think I've seen the BB team play in Moody in person 2-3 times in the last 3 years.
Wake me when that [deleted] head Doherty is outta here.
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTP
Makes a lot of sense. I was given the water in the arena, by the SMU staff. It's the lack of common sense that infuriates me. It's not just the water either, but a lack of common sense in so many aspects with the way this athletic department is run. It's people like you that protect the status quo that keeps up looking like a little league school. It's embarrassing when I bring people to games and have to listen to their cracks about game presentation, witness their eye rolls when we do some stupid gimmick or have awkward dead air, and see the pity in their eyes as I say, 'come back anytime' and I can picture them thinking they'd rather sit through an air hogs game or listen to race week. The water bottle policy is not the issue, but it is at the heart of the problem. #NewLobCity
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPIf I just said that I've been to 3 games in the last 2-3 years, how would I be protecting the status quo? I couldn't even tell you what the game presentation looks like. The current BB coach created such apathy for the program, I no longer feel the need to really care about the program until somebody else comes in.
Your accusation if off base. When you consistently win, game presentation is secondary. When you consistently lose and play in a tomb, game presentation and those errors stick out like a sore thumb. Doherty tried to change the approach here in his first two years. I came and thought there was some momentum. But then when it became clear he was a fraud and people no longer cared, he stopped putting any effort into enhancing the game atmosphere. Give me 5 good reasons to watch this program other than you're just loyal to the school.
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPSlip the water in your back pocket before you leave. Street Smart 101.

Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTPAlso, can you define what the ultimate experience should be?
You're full of criticism (warranted I'll grant you). What would you do to make it better? We were told by PonyDoh -- who likes to issue talking points -- that the school has written off this season. What a great message that is for your fan base.

After the first time I was told no, this is what I did. I believe it was my jacket though. #NewLobCity
Re: Memphis game next Wed: Good news for OTP
I have posted about this ad nauseum, and I don't have time to rehash it right now. Basically these are a few areas that can improve with little investment. A lot of these go double for the Football side. - General game presentation needs to be more polished. Go to a TCU game for a good example of what we should strive for. - New cheer/pom squad. Lack of attractiveness aside, they are more interested in their cell phones and talking to their friends than doing their job. Again, when I went to TCU game I was blown away by the difference between a similar school that actually put on a D1 quality atmosphere. - Get rid of the PA guy - Have a sense of game flow, and don't play kiss game or run through three ads in a row with no music when we are making a run and there is a timeout. We didn't have these problems during the Sasser era, don't know what changed. I could go on and on, but I'm too busy now. I'm sure you can pull up my old posts and find many game presentation rants. Take the department on a field trip to a Mavs game and TCU game and take notes on how to be professional. #NewLobCity
