Pretty close to that. I have used the BoA discount several times to stay at the 4seasons in Chicago. Never had to prove it up. But the key is to call the 800 reservation number not the hotel directly.

Trying to go to Scottsdale for spring training, got a slight discount at Phoenician but nothing outstanding...

Aren't you speaking of Taos/ A former Governor was and is a major sponsor. He used to approve the payroll around here.

smu has a pretty large real estate portfolio as part of the endowment.

Ah, my portfolio includes real estate as well...Baltic, Park Place, and...wait for it...Boardwalk. I decided to put some hotels there.
Cost me a pretty penny, but as I had just gotten out of jail free and had recently took first prize in a beauty pageant...I let it ride.

That was going to be my question. Is the real estate a part of the endowment holdings, or are we investing in real estate specific funds? I doubt the University has the infrastructure to asset manage a wholly owned portfolio of real estate.
