ya'll are living in the past. Michigan is like the old high school player who shows up at his high school reunion expecting everyone to still love on him, and wanting to talk about that cool play 20 years ago... Meanwhile the rest of the world moved on without him.

Michigan is old school Big Ten - it too cold, is in an unihabitable state wiht no future, with ugly girls where you cant go outside for 7 months out of the year. Its no fun to be there. They can only recruit from the rust belt - whereas the southern and western schools (especially the SEC) can pull from anywhere in the country. Nobody leaves the south to play north, whereas many northern players leave since there is no future in the mid-west.

It will be very hard to turn Michigan around since the skill guys dont want to play there. Its that simple. The results on the field are the same every year for the last ten years - the Big Ten thinks they are great (because they beat a few other mid west teams) and then they play teams from the West or South and get their clock cleaned.

Its over for Michigan. They need to think about dominating the curling championship.

Nobody goes north from the South? When was the last time an SEC or Big 12 South quarterback was from the North?

Check Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, etc rosters. Plenty of Florida, Louisiana, and Texas kids leave sunshine for the Big 10 every year.

Stanford with Luck back is a top 5 preseason team and look at their schedule

Imagine Stanford this year if Toby Gearheart did not leave early and if he was a senior on this team. That team you saw at the Orange Bowl with Toby Gearheart beats Oregon. Oregon has a small defense and with a 20 point lead at halftime, they pound the ball, keep Oregon's defense off the field, slow the game down and win the game.

Saying you cant win a National Title at Stanford is naive. When they hired Harbaugh, they changed their admission policy, which oddly enough, pre-harbaugh, was like SMU's during the Pye years. They could not offer a player until they were admitted the the university. Since Harbaugh arrived, their classes have been top 20 classes and the last two years they have been top 10. Couple that with the fact that kids who go to Stanford are more likely to stay for 4 years.....you have probably the only school in the nation that can recruit a top 10 class with most of those players wanting to stay for four years. Dangerous combination.

Stallion.....back me up on this!

He would be crazy not to explore the Michigan job, unless he is assuming he will just be another tcu failure like Frances was.

He will win a NC in the Big East. He is already getting better recruits.

I agree Stanford has ramped up its recruiting classes-not sure about all the recruiting changes but I do know they were ridiculous about 5 year ago. SMU had 2 kids waiting until December to find out if Stanford would accept in January. Wasn't McCann one of them. They used to offer early but you still had to be accepted late. I'm telling you in these days with the NFL Draft getting so many superstar underclassmen there is value in schools that retain and graduate their players. That's how schools like TCU and Stanford have taken good recruiting classes, redshirted the entire class and competed with the schools taking 30 every year. SMU isn't exactly excelling in that model right now. Not sure how TCU is doing it but we better find out because they are winning at recruiting, winning at graduating and winning on the field. Its a deadly combination. TCU signs 18-20 a year while SMU is signing 26-28 a year and they are getting more out of less. The excellence of their Senior Class was the difference maker.

"Texas Christian coach Gary Patterson, thought to be among the potential candidates to take over Michigan's football program, was asked Thursday by a Dallas-Ft. Worth radio station about the Michigan job.

"No, I haven't been contacted," Patterson told 105.3-The Fan. "I've got a great job here.

"TCU has a chance to be maybe the No. 2 or No. 1 team (next season), depending on what poll, in the nation. Maybe we are one of those people (elite programs) now. That's what I've been trying to build the program to get to. Michigan has a great tradition and is a great university. I'll cross that bridge when I get there."

Until they are officially in the Big East and play in that Conference, TCU will remain #3.

LOL @ people trying to downplay Michigan. Its still one of the top ten head coaching jobs in the country. Money, facilities, alumn support, tradition, etc. are all on their side. The right man could get them back where they need to be.
Back off Warchild seriously.
