You have become the most predictable poster on this board, counselor. Does a daily [deleted] and moan about our attendance problems suddenly make people excited about Mustang basketball? Maybe a promo from the Saturday Night Live Whiners Family during tonight's Olympic coverage would do it. I can Wendy Whiner now: "Oh, we NEVER get fans at our games! No one but the 1500 even care!" That should line 'em up at the gate.

We don't draw well. I believe everyone here got the point.

ponyboy: I know a lot of people get tired of my constant rant about attendance, but the question was raised in this thread: "why schedule these guys?". I think the combination of our wanting a home game against someone we could beat without BHop in the lineup...and against someone we can afford to pay to visit...about sums it up. You do the math. I hope we are getting these guys to come in for something less than $10k. I don't think you will find D-I teams traveling for less than that these days.

UT-Pan Am WANTED to play SMU in Dallas, part of the return for the game on the island last year. UTPA is beatable, and didn't want big $$. Btw, somehow UTPA managed to bring Air Force to Edinburg last year, and got a D-I w. Other DI games they play at home are the likes of IP-Ft. Wayne, UM-KC, UL-Lafayette, UNT, UTA, A&M-CC. All of these are games SMU could get at home that would count as D-1 w's, without the aforementioned expense.
