Penalties could include two years probation, recruiting restrictions and scholarship reductions.

Death Penalty to Texas Tech?

This may be why the pirate hasn't gotten another coaching job yet.

At least he gets a final jab in at the school.

Ruh roh...

In all seriousness they'll get a slap on the wrist. Think about it though. How the hell else are they going to convince kids to spend four years of their lives in Lubbock without cheating?

This is also why we don't need alumni friending high school kids on facebook and posting to their wall.

Dutch - Totally agreed.

About the violations: Text messages? Really? That's a major violation resulting in probation and scholarship reductions?

Not exactly the same as buying Reggie Bush a house, methinks. Violation? Definitely. It's the "major" part that is not quite registering with me.

I can't help but imagine if Texas or Alabama reported themselves with violations such as these that the official NCAA response would be "Hey guys, text their parents... as long as the kid doesn't know about it, it's all good."
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

There's something weird about that regardless.

Agreed. The creepiness level is just way up there on that one.

its creepy first of all, but also it's inappropriate contact by an alumni to a recruit. any contact is a violation.
