well patterson was left with a pretty nice cupboard when he was promoted. June has almost completely restocked. I don't think we're "a class and a half away" but we are a "class away" from having June's seniors. While i agree TCU makes more out of less, we don't have that luxury until we are 2 or 3 senior classes deep ("a year and a half" i guess). SMU has to stock pile, I expect more and more redshirts over the next two years and like you said we will begin to reap the benefits

The plain fact of the matter is that TCU had a "SYSTEM" in place for over a decade. Combine that with the continuity of handing over the reigns to Patterson after Fran and the system has stayed in place. They made the proper administrative and organizational moves to keep the thing going. SMU is only three years into their restructuring process. I'm as impatient as anyone on this board when it comes to wins, but the realistic answer is that this is a process. Coach Jones and his staff are on track for getting us where we need to be. If anyone watched SMU football from 2001-2007 you can instantly see the caliber of athlete and overall play has improved drastically. There is no reason to think it won't continue on that trajectory.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Stallion wrote:I agree Stanford has ramped up its recruiting classes-not sure about all the recruiting changes but I do know they were ridiculous about 5 year ago. SMU had 2 kids waiting until December to find out if Stanford would accept in January. Wasn't McCann one of them. They used to offer early but you still had to be accepted late. I'm telling you in these days with the NFL Draft getting so many superstar underclassmen there is value in schools that retain and graduate their players. That's how schools like TCU and Stanford have taken good recruiting classes, redshirted the entire class and competed with the schools taking 30 every year. SMU isn't exactly excelling in that model right now. Not sure how TCU is doing it but we better find out because they are winning at recruiting, winning at graduating and winning on the field. We have been so far behind the talent level of teams we played for years that we couldn't red shirt mass quantities of players. As our talent level increases we will be able to do that also.

No truth to this "Rummor". Patterson signs contract extension through 2018. Although no one around here likes TCU, they are doing everything right and are setting an example for us as we try to replicate what they've done. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/news/story?id=6000665

and what was Patterson's Michigan connection? Pretty lame to start this rumor. I'd be more concerned if Spurrier resigned and Hyman came calling on Patterson.
Michigan is looking for a "Michigan man"

I lived in Detroit when I was 4 years old. Perhaps I have a chance. And yes, Michigan was already a State back then.

Yes but you were only a "Michigan Boy"

Concur. No way he leaves. 2 BCS bowls in a row, paid well, Wife from Keller. Now is the time to enjoy all that he has worked fro the past 8 years. Congrats to TCU for showing us how it's done. We might be able to copy the blueprint if the admin allows us to do so.
